Keith Lawrence (RAF Officer)
Keith Ashley Lawrence (25 November 1919 – 2 June 2016) was a New Zealand-born British Royal Air Force Officer, who was one of the last surviving members of "The Few". Early life Lawrence was born on 25 November 1919 in Waitara, New Zealand. He was educated at Southland Boys' High School between 1933 and 1936 and after leaving school worked for two years at the National Bank of New Zealand in Invercargill. In June 1938 he applied for a four-year short service commission and was provisionally accepted in November. On 1 February 1939 he sailed for the UK aboard the RMS Tainui with a large draft of other candidates. Royal Air Force Training Lawrence reported for training as a pupil pilot at 10 E & RFTS (Elementary and Reserve Flying Training School), Yatesbury run for the RAF by the Bristol Aeroplane Company. Francis Keith Lawrence (April 4, 1891 – November 22, 1978) was a Democratic politician from Cleveland, Ohio, United States who served in the Ohio House of Representatives, and in the Ohio State Senate, including two years as President of the Senate. Biography Keith Lawrence was born in Cleveland, the son of James Lawrence and Jennie Gardner Porter Lawrence. His father was previously Ohio Attorney General, and his grandfather, William Lawrence had served in Congress. His twin sister, Margaret R. Lawrence was assistant prosecuting attorney of Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Keith Lawrence attended public schools in Cleveland, and graduated AB from Hobart College in 1913. He received a LL.B. from Western Reserve University Franklin Thomas Backus School of Law in 1916. During World War I, Lawrence served as an ensign in the United States Naval Reserve Force. 1987 Rugby World Cup
The 1987 Rugby World Cup was the first Rugby World Cup. It was co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia – New Zealand hosted 21 matches (17 pool stage matches, two quarter-finals, the third-place play-off and the final) while Australia hosted 11 matches (seven pool matches, two quarter-finals and both semi-finals). The tournament was won by New Zealand, who were the strong favourites and won all their matches comfortably. New Zealand defeated France 29–9 in the final at Eden Park in Auckland. The New Zealand team was captained by David Kirk and included such rugby greats as Sean Fitzpatrick, John Kirwan, Grant Fox and Michael Jones.
