Keith Conlon (broadcaster)
Keith Andrew Conlon, LL.B. 1968, B.A. 1968 (University of Adelaide), OAM, (born 30 April 1944) is a veteran Australian broadcaster based in Adelaide. Career Conlon first came to public attention in South Australia in the mid-1960s as a member, with twins Peter and Martin Wesley-Smith, of the folk-singing group "The Wesley Three", who had several successes on the local hit parades, including the children's song "Little Tommy". He joined the ABC Television ABS2 ''This Day Tonight'' current affairs team in 1970, and later had his own current affairs show "The Keith Conlon Hour" on Radio 5AD. In 1971, The University of Adelaide's Department of Adult Education appointed Conlon as the Producer/Manager of its new community radio station which commenced broadcasting as VL5UV on 28 June 1972. Adelaide Town Hall
Adelaide Town Hall is a landmark building on King William Street in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. The City of Adelaide Town Hall complex includes the Town Hall and the office building at 25 Pirie Street. Description and history Adelaide Town Hall was based on the winning design in an 1863 architectural competition by Edmund Wright and E. J. Woods, with construction by Charles Farr commencing in 1863 and completed in 1866. The tower, whose foundation stone was laid on 13 January 1864, is named after Prince Albert and is slightly shorter than the Victoria Tower of the GPO on the other side of King William Street. Townsend Duryea's famouPanorama of 1865was taken from the Albert Tower. The clock, by Thomas Gaunt & Co of Melbourne, was donated by Lavington Bonython and installed in 1935. The South Australian Heritage Register, also known as the SA Heritage Register, is a statutory register of historic places in South Australia. Tony Pilkington
Tony Pilkington is a South Australian radio personality. He is best known for "Bazz and Pilko", his long running breakfast show partnership with Barry Ion. Their show aired in Adelaide from 1976 to 1984, then Sydney from 1985 to 1991, then back in Adelaide until 1996. He continued to work at Adelaide's 5AA until retiring in 2010. In 2011 he was inducted into the Australian Commercial Radio Hall of Fame. After nine years of semi-retirement, Pilko is set for a return to Adelaide airwaves once again. As of 2020 Pilkington will host the afternoon show, 12:30 to 3pm weekdays on Adelaide's 5AA. In December 2022, Tony again retired from Adelaide Radio. John Kenneally is an Australian radio presenter based in Adelaide, who after many years on ABC radio, moved to commercial radio in 2010. Career FIVEaa Kenneally is currently part of talk station FIVEaa's breakfast team with Keith Conlon, Jane Doyle, Chris McDermott and Tim Ginever. He joined the station in late 2010 replacing the retiring Tony Pilkington. He left the breakfast shift in 2013 to present a Saturday night program on the station. FIVEAA (pronounced ''Five Double A'') is Adelaide's only commercial talkback radio station. The station has a range of programs including news, sports, current affairs, social issues, football calls, gardening, lifestyle, cars, travel and health. It is owned by Nova Entertainment. History 5AA commenced service in Kent Town on 14 March 1976 on the frequency 1390 AM. It was moved to 1386 AM with the introduction of 9 kHz spacing on the AM dial in 1978. The station now broadcasts on 1395 AM. 5AA commenced its life with a "Beautiful Music" format and quickly became Adelaide's number-1-rated radio station. In 1976, the only FM competition was ABC Classic FM. AM stations were ABC Radio, 5DN and music stations 5KA and 5AD. In the 1980s, 5AA was sold to the State Government owned TAB betting agency, ditching music to begin broadcasting horse and dog racing, with talkback in between race calls.
