Kazimiera Żuławska
Kazimiera Żuławska née Hanicki (22 February 1883 – 18 April 1971) was a Romance studies, Romanist, translator, mountaineer, and women's rights activist. Biography She was born Kazimiera Hanicki in Czemerysy to a landed gentry family, daughter of Ignacy Dionizy Hanicki and Zofia née Ostolska. She graduated from the 2nd Warsaw Girls' Gymnasium, receiving a silver medal in 1900 and qualification as a home teacher. She studied Romance studies at the universities in Lviv and Bern. In the latter, in 1910, she obtained a doctorate for her thesis "Women in the Woltera Theater". She married the writer Jerzy Żuławski on 22 June 1907. With her husband and his brother Janusz, she climbed the Alps and the Tatra Mountains. In the years 1910–1921 she lived in Zakopane. After the outbreak of World War I, Jerzy Żuławski joined the Legions, and Kazimiera was the chairman of the Zakopane section of the Women's League of Galicia and Silesia (1915–1918). Juliusz Osterwa
Juliusz Osterwa, born Julian Andrzej Maluszek (23 June 1885 – 10 May 1947), was a renowned Polish actor, theatre director and art theoretician active in the interwar period. He was the founder of Theatre Reduta, the first experimental stage in Warsaw following Poland's return to independence at the end of World War One. Osterwa began his Warsaw career at the age of 33 by staging the works of Poland's revolutionary dramatists including Juliusz Słowacki, Stanisław Wyspiański, Stefan Żeromski, Jerzy Szaniawski, Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer, and Cyprian Norwid. This team was commonly known as the actor's commune, resembling an ascetic monastery devoted to spiritual practice. Polish Righteous Among The Nations
The citizens of Poland have the highest count of individuals who have been recognized by Yad Vashem as the Polish Righteous Among the Nations, for saving Jews from extermination during the Holocaust in World War II. There are Polish men and women conferred with the honor, over a quarter of the recognized by Yad Vashem in total. The list of Righteous Among the Nations is not comprehensive and it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of Poles concealed and aided tens of thousands of their Polish-Jewish neighbors. Many of these initiatives were carried out by individuals, but there also existed organized networks of Polish resistance which were dedicated to aiding Jews – most notably, the '' Żegota'' organization. The New Theatre in Łódź also known as the Kazimierz Dejmek New Theatre (Polish: ''Teatr Nowy w Łodzi'' or ''Teatr Nowy im. Kazimierz Dejmek
Kazimierz Dejmek (17 May 1924 – 31 December 2002) was a Polish actor, theatre and film director, and politician. During his career he managed the New Theatre in Łódź (since 2008 named after him), the National Theatre, Warsaw, and the Teatr Polski, Warsaw. From 1993 to 1996 he served as Poland's Minister of Culture. In 1984 Dejmek was awarded the Witkacy Prize - Critics' Circle Award and in 1989 the Grand Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, one of his country's highest honours. Life and career Kazimierz Dejmek was born in Kowel (now in Ukraine) in 1924 and attended school in Rzeszów.
