Kazhakoottam Bypass
Kazhakoottam flyover is a flyover, that is a part of the NH 66 in Kerala, India. The 2.7 km long four line flyover is the longest elevated highway in Kerala. The flyover runs above the Kazhakootam junction, where the original national highway intersects with the bypass road. Vehicles travelling from Kollam can enter the elevated highway near the CSI Mission Hospital in Kazhakootam. Overview The flyover is 22 metres wide and contains 61 pillars and 420 girders. Its development began in December 2018 at a cost of Rs 195.5 crore and the construction was supposed to be finished in two years. It starts from CSI Mission Hospital at Kazhakkoottam to Techno Park phase-III. The construction of the flyover started with the announcement that it would be open to public in two years. Kazhakkoottam is a major urban area in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala state, India. The largest IT park in the country in terms of developed area, Technopark, along with Technocity-an upcoming integrated IT township-is situated here. Hence, it is known as the Information Technology capital of Kerala. It is one of the fastest-growing areas of the state. National Highway 66, commonly referred to as NH 66 (erstwhile NH-17 and a part of NH-47), is a mostly 4 lane 1640 km (1020 miles) long busy National Highway (India), National Highway that runs roughly north–south along the western coast of India, parallel to the western ghats, Western Ghats. It connects Panvel, a city east of Mumbai (Bombay) to Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari) via Mangalore, passing through the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
