Kayla Kent is an American guitarist and YouTuber. First coming to fame after being featured in Guitar World in early 2022 for her covers of Dimebag Darrell guitar solos, she predominantly is known for playing exclusively her Kramer JK8000 and Kapybara model guitars. Following her rise in popularity, she was invited to a Pantera concert in Austin, TX in 2023 with the newly reformed Pantera with new members Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante. Phil Anselmo revealed to her at this concert that she was on the list to replace Dimebag Darrell as the guitarist in Pantera. She is repeatedly featured in the media as articles discussing her attract much attention. Guitar World called their breakout article featuring her one of the "Best of 2022" as well as Metal Injection ranking the story featuring her on Phil Anselmo's Pantera guitarist list as #20 on the Top Stories of 2023. Groove Metal
Groove metal is a subgenre of heavy metal music that began in the early 1990s. The genre achieved success in the 1990s and continued having success in the 2000s. Inspired by thrash metal and traditional heavy metal, groove metal features raspy singing and screaming, down-tuned guitars, heavy guitar riffs, and syncopated rhythms. Unlike thrash metal, groove metal is usually slower and also uses elements of traditional heavy metal. Pantera are often considered the pioneers of groove metal, and groove metal expanded in the 1990s with bands like White Zombie, Machine Head, and Sepultura. Kramer Guitars is an American manufacturer of electric guitars and basses. Kramer produced aluminum-necked electric guitars and basses in the 1970s and wooden-necked guitars catering to hard rock and heavy metal musicians in the 1980s; Kramer is currently a division of Gibson Guitar Corporation. Formation There is some dispute over the company's early history but it begins with Travis Bean, a California luthier who was building guitars with aluminum necks. Bean and Gary Kramer started the Travis Bean guitar company in 1974, in Sun Valley, and while their guitars did well, Bean lost interest and left most of the business aspects to Kramer and so the two parted ways. Alex Lifeson
Aleksandar Živojinović, (born 27 August 1953), known professionally as Alex Lifeson (), is a Canadian musician, best known as the guitarist and backing vocalist of the progressive rock band Rush. In 1968, Lifeson co-founded the band that would later become Rush, with drummer John Rutsey and bassist and lead vocalist Jeff Jones. Jones was replaced by Geddy Lee a month later, and Rutsey was replaced by Neil Peart in 1974. Before the band was disbanded in 2018, Lifeson was the only continuous member who stayed in Rush since its inception, and along with bass guitarist/vocalist Geddy Lee, the only member to appear on all of the band's albums.
