Kavossy Franklin
Kavossy Franklin (born July 18, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player who is most known for his time spent in the Australian National Basketball League. Franklin completed his college career at Augusta State University in 1999. Upon leaving college, he played in the International Basketball Association and the United States Basketball League, as well as in France for Mulhouse. In 2002, Franklin moved to Australia and joined the Sydney Kings, helping the Kings win a championship in 2002–03. For the 2004–05 season, he returned to Australia and joined the Hunter Pirates. In March 2005, he signed with Skyliners Frankfurt for the rest of the season. He continued on with Frankfurt in 2005–06. In 2006, Franklin returned to Australia and joined the South Dragons for the 2006–07 season. In 2007–08 and 2008–09, he played for the Wollongong Hawks. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. Corey Webster (basketball)
Corey Webster (born 29 November 1988) is a New Zealand professional basketball player for the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). He joined the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian NBL for the first time in 2008 after a season of college basketball in the United States for Lambuth University, and won championships with the club in 2011, 2013 and 2015. He has also been a regular in the New Zealand NBL, winning championships with the Wellington Saints in 2011, 2014 and 2017, and has had stints in Serbia, Greece, Israel, China, Italy and Egypt. Webster signed with the New Orleans Pelicans prior to the 2015–16 NBA season, but was waived during preseason. The Hawke's Bay Hawks are a New Zealand basketball team based in Napier. The Hawks compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at Pettigrew Green Arena. For sponsorship reasons, they are known as the Taylor Hawks. Team history The Hawke's Bay Hawks, then known as the Napier Sunhawks, started in the second-tiered Conference Basketball League (CBL). The 2010 NBL season was the 29th season of the National Basketball League. Foundation member and nine-time NBL champions the Auckland Stars withdrew from the league in 2010, while the Otago Nuggets returned after a one-year absence and the Southland Sharks joined for the first time. The regular season began on Thursday 4 March and concluded on Friday 19 June. The playoffs began on Tuesday 22 June and concluded on Thursday 1 July, with the Wellington Saints taking home their sixth NBL title after defeating the Waikato Pistons 2–1 in the best-of-three finals series. United States Basketball League
The United States Basketball League (USBL) was a professional men's spring basketball league. The league was formed in 1985 and ceased operations in 2008. The USBL started in 1985 as one of the first basketball leagues to play a late-spring to early-summer schedule. The league quickly became known as a development league for players, with many players moving up to the National Basketball Association, NBA and many more playing in Europe after stints here. In 1996, the league made a stock offering, a rarity among sports leagues. However, in later years, the league declined as rival leagues appeared and USBL had a tougher time replacing teams that folded. In the last two seasons, the league was mainly a midwestern league, with teams mainly in Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. International Basketball Association
The International Basketball Association (IBA) was founded in 1995 by a group of businessmen led by Tom Anderson. The original owners of franchises in the league were George Daniel (Black Hills Posse-Rapid City, SD), John Korsmo, Al Gardner, and Al Hovland (Fargo Beez), Jeff McCarron (St. Cloud Rock 'n Rollers), Bill Sorensen (Dakota Wizards - Bismarck) and Earl Barish (Winnipeg Cyclones). Earl Barish of Winnipeg directed the IBA as League President and the league eventually grew to ten franchises. Augusta State University
Augusta State University was a public university in Augusta, Georgia. It merged with Georgia Health Sciences University in 2012 to form Georgia Regents University, later known as Augusta University. History Augusta State University was founded as the Academy of Richmond County in 1783 as a high school. It opened in 1785 and offered collegiate-level classes from its earliest days, and its classes were overseen by the Georgia state legislature.
