''Kavan'' ( ) is a 2017 Indian Tamil-language political thriller film directed by K. V. Anand and produced by AGS Entertainment. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, Madonna Sebastian, T. Rajendar, Vikranth and Darshana Rajendran. Pandiarajan, Akashdeep Saigal, Bose Venkat, Jagan and others appear in supporting roles. Anna Kavan (born Helen Emily Woods; 10 April 1901 – 5 December 1968) was a British novelist, short story writer and painter. Originally publishing under her first married name, Helen Ferguson, she adopted the name Anna Kavan in 1939 as both her pen name and her legal identity. She is most well-known for her 1967 novel, ''Ice'', published just a year before her death. Biography Early life and background Kavan was born Helen Emily Woods in Cannes, as the only child of an affluent British family. Her father, Claude Charles Edward Woods, was a brewer who graduated Jesus College, Cambridge in 1888. He was the son of Matthew Charles Woods of Holeyn Hall, Wylam, and the grandson of William Woods, a banker in Newcastle upon Tyne. Jan Kavan
Jan Kavan (born 17 October 1946) is a former Czech politician and diplomat. Biography Kavan was born in London as the son of a Czechoslovak diplomat, Pavel Kavan, and a British teacher, Rosemary Kavanová. Kavan moved back to Czechoslovakia with his parents as a child. His father was then arrested in a Communist Party purge and sentenced to 25 years in prison in a show trial in the 1950s. He was eventually released, but died in 1960 aged 46. Kavan's mother later wrote a memoir, ''Love and Freedom''. Kavan was one of the student leaders of the Prague Spring movement in 1968. When the movement was crushed by the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia, Kavan emigrated to the United Kingdom, the country of his birth, where he was a member of the Labour Party from 1972 to 1990. František Kaván
František Kaván (10 September 1866, Víchovská Lhota near Jilemnice - 16 December 1941, Libuň near Jičín) was a Czechs, Czech painter and poet. Kaván studied at the gymnasium in Hradec Králové, which he finished in 1888. During 1889 to 1896 he studied painting at the academy in Prague under the guidance of Julius Mařák. He was a member of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. He spent the end of his life in the area of Krkonoše, his birthplace. Kaván was a very humble and likeable person who had given away most of his paintings. As a painter, he specialised in realistic landscapes and created over 4,000 paintings. He concentrated on the mountain areas of Krkonoše and Vysočina. Unlike his paintings, Kaván's poems were soon forgotten. He also translated literary works from Russian. Teagan Kavan (born February 28, 2005) is an American college softball pitcher for Texas. High school career Kavan attended Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines, Iowa. She played travel softball for Iowa Premier Fastpitch, where she recorded 1,444 strikeouts in innings, with 45 shutouts and six no-hitters. On November 9, 2022, she signed her national letter of intent to play college softball at Texas. College career As a freshman during the 2024 season, Kavan appeared in 31 games, with 24 starts, and posted a 20–3 record and four saves, with a 2.20 earned run average (ERA), 135 strikeouts, nine complete games and six shutouts in innings. Following the season she was named an All-Big 12 first team and All-Big 12 freshman team selection, and named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
