Kauffman Motor Vehicle Company
Kauffman Motor Vehicle Company was a pioneer brass era, American automobile company, built in Miamisburg, Ohio, Miamisburg, Ohio, from 1909 until 1912. History The company was begun in 1906Kimes, p.761. as the Kauffman Buggy Company, providing bodies and chassis for Hatfield Motor Vehicle Company, Hatfield, located across town. In 1908, as Hatfield ran into financial difficulties, the two firms merged, to form the Advance Motor Vehicle Company. Under the Advance name, they introduced a four-passenger Roadster (automobile), roadster with a refined version of Hartfield's four-cylinder on a 104 in (2642 mm) wheelbase. The Brass Era is an American term for the early period of automotive manufacturing, named for the prominent brass fittings used during this time for such features as lights and radiator (engine cooling), radiators. It is generally considered to encompass 1896 through 1915, a time when cars were often referred to as horseless carriages. Elsewhere in the world, this period would be considered by antique car enthusiasts to consist of the History of the automobile#Horseless carriage or veteran era, veteran (pre-1904), and History of the automobile#Brass/Edwardian era, Edwardian eras, although these terms are really not meaningful outside the former British Empire.
