Katrine Philp
Katrine Philp (born December 14, 1978) is a Danish film director. She initially studied film production design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and later graduated from the National Film School of Denmark as a documentary film director in 2009. Career Philp started her career in 2009 with her graduation film ''Book of Miri''. The film was selected for the IDFA Student Competition and won the European Young CIVIS Media award in Germany. Philp is a former dancer. After being invited to a ballroom training session, she met with dancers who would become the protagonists of her first feature documentary ''Dance For Me'' in 2013. The film was nominated at the 2015 Emmy Awards in the category ‘Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming’. In 2018, Philp directed ''False Confessions''. A film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects and visualizes the screenplay (or script) while guiding the film crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. The director has a key role in choosing the cast members, production design and all the creative aspects of filmmaking. The Danish Film Institute ( da, Det Danske Filminstitut) is the national Danish agency responsible for supporting and encouraging film and cinema culture, and for conserving these in the national interest. Also known as ''Filmhuset'' ("the film house"), it is located in Gothersgade in central Copenhagen. The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival is an annual international event dedicated to the theatrical exhibition of non-fiction cinema. The festival is a program of the Center for Documentary Studies, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) at Duke University. This event receives financial support from corporate sponsors, private foundations, and individual donors. The Presenting Sponsor of the Festival is Duke University. The LA Film Festival was an annual film festival that was held in Los Angeles, California, and usually took place in June. It showcased independent, international, feature, documentary and short films, as well as web series, music videos, episodic television and panel conversations. Since 2001, it had been run by the nonprofit Film Independent, which since 1985 has also produced the annual Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica. Japan Prize
is awarded to people from all parts of the world whose "original and outstanding achievements in science and technology are recognized as having advanced the frontiers of knowledge and served the cause of peace and prosperity for mankind." The Prize is presented by the Japan Prize Foundation. Since its inception in 1985, the Foundation has awarded 81 people from 13 countries. The Japan Prize consists of a certificate, a commemorative medal and a cash award of ¥50 million. No discrimination is made as to nationality, occupation, race, or gender. Only living persons may be named. Every November, the Japan Prize Foundation selects two fields for the award according to current trends in science and technology.
