Katie Dabson
Katie Dabson (born c.1996) is a British sailor in the catamaran Nacra 17 and the hydrofoil Formula Kite. She became World champion with Ben Saxton in 2017 at the Nacra 17 World Championship and then went on to compete at Formula Kite. Life Dabson was born in about 1996. She went to Plymouth University where she graduated with honours in Accountancy and Finance. She had taken to sailing, after seeing the 2012 Olympic sailing in Weymouth. After being a student she decided to become a full-time sailor. Her father also sailed, he sailed with the father of her friend from Grafham Water Sailing Club, Ben Saxton. She and Saxton had success together as they competed at the Sailing World Cup Finals and at the European Championship in Germany. On both occasions they took medals. She became World champion with Saxton in 2017 at the Nacra 17 World Championship in the seaside resort of La Grande-Motte. Tara Pacheco
Tara Pacheco van Rijnsoever (born 3 October 1988 in Arucas) is a Spanish sports sailor. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she competed in the Women's 470 class with Berta Betanzos. At the 2016 Olympics, she and Fernando Echavarri competed in the Nacra 17 class. She was runner-up at the 2006 420 Female World Championships. Pacjeco first teamed with Iker Martinez to win European Nacra 17 title in 2014. At the 2017 Nacra 17 World Championship, she and Echavarri won a silver medal. They were beaten by Ben Saxton and Katie Dabson She and Echavarri also won the silver medal at the 2017 European Championships. A sailor, seaman, mariner, or seafarer is a person who works aboard a watercraft as part of its crew, and may work in any one of a number of different fields that are related to the operation and maintenance of a ship. Ellie Aldridge
Eleanor Aldridge MBE (born 29 December 1996) is a British sailor from Dorset who competes in women's kite foiling. She won the 2023 Formula Kite European Championships and took the silver that year in the World Championships. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Aldridge won a gold medal in the women's Formula Kite event. Early life Aldridge was born on 29 December 1996 in Poole, Dorset. She was first introduced to sailing when she was seven years old and joined the Parkstone Yacht Club where she experimented with sailing dinghies. Career In 2021 she beat French windfoiler Lauriane Nolot into third place at the Formula Kite World Championships in Torregrande in Sardinia. It was won by American Daniela Moroz with Aldridge in second. In 2022 she took the silver medal in the KiteFoil World Series Traunsee in Austria. The Nacra 17 is a performance catamaran used for sailing. It was designed in 2011, went into production in 2012 and has been the focus of multihull sailing at the Olympic Games since its conception. The Nacra has been converted to a sailing hydrofoil for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. History The Nacra 17 was specifically created to meet the criteria laid down for the new olympic discipline a first for Olympic sailing a mixed crewed boat. La Grande-Motte (; oc, La Mota Granda) is a commune in the Hérault département in Occitanie in southern France. It is a popular seaside resort and port, built in the 1960s and 1970s. Grafham Water is an biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) north of Perry, Cambridgeshire, Perry, Huntingdonshire. It was designated an SSSI in 1986. It is a reservoir (water), reservoir with a circumference of about , is deep at maximum, and is the List of reservoirs in England and Wales by volume, eighth largest reservoir in England by volume and the third largest by area at .
