Kati Outinen
Anna Katriina "Kati" Outinen (born 17 August 1961) is a Finnish actress who has often played leading female roles in Aki Kaurismäki's films. Outinen was born in Helsinki. Having studied under Jouko Turkka during his "reign" of drama studies in Finland, she nevertheless has never been associated with the "''turkkalaisuus''" school of acting methodology. Her breakthrough role was as a tough girl in the generational classic youth film '' Täältä tullaan elämä'' (1980) by Tapio Suominen. In 1984, she appeared in '' Aikalainen''. Besides a strong domestic reputation gained through a widely varied list of roles in theatre and television drama, film director Aki Kaurismäki's films have brought Outinen international attention and even adulation, particularly in Germany and France. ''Dark Crimes'' is a 2016 crime drama film directed by Alexandros Avranas and written by Jeremy Brock. The film was based on a 2008 article in ''The New Yorker'' by David Grann titled "True Crime: A Postmodern Murder Mystery", about convicted murderer Krystian Bala who supposedly wrote a fictionalized novel about a murder he committed. The film stars Jim Carrey as a detective who notices similarities between a cold case murder and a best-selling novel. The supporting cast includes Agata Kulesza, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kati Outinen, Zbigniew Zamachowski, and Marton Csokas. Producer Brett Ratner had ''True Crimes'' in development since 2010. ''Le Havre'' () is a 2011 comedy-drama film produced, written, and directed by Aki Kaurismäki and starring André Wilms, Kati Outinen, Jean-Pierre Darroussin and Blondin Miguel. ''Sauna'', also known as ''Filth'' or ''Evil Rising'', is a 2008 Finnish horror film directed by Antti-Jussi Annila. The film was awarded three Jussi Awards in 2009: the best sound design, the best scenography and the best costumes. In addition, the film was nominated for best lead actor ( Ville Virtanen), best lead actor ( Tommi Eronen) and best editing. Premise At the end of the Russo-Swedish War (1590-1595), brothers Knut and Eerik are tasked with marking the border between Finland under Swedish rule and the Tsardom of Russia. Eerik is a cartographer hardened by a long war and studied in Stockholm. On the way, the brothers kill the peasant and leave his daughter in the basement to die, but in the marshes of the north, the ghost of the girl returns to persecute them.
