Kathleen Kauth
Kathleen Anne Kauth (born March 28, 1979) is an American ice hockey player, formerly playing for the Brampton Thunder, when they were affiliated with the NWHL. Playing career USA Hockey Kauth made the pre-Olympic cut for the 2002 United States Olympic hockey team. She won a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics. CWHL Kauth, along with such as Allyson Fox, Kim McCullough, along with national team members Sami Jo Small and Jennifer Botterill spearheaded an initiative to form the Canadian Women's Hockey League. The players worked with a group of volunteer business people to form the CWHL by following the example of the National Lacrosse League. The league would be responsible for all travel, ice rental and uniform costs, plus some equipment. Personal Kauth graduated from Brown University in pre-med in 2001. Brampton Thunder
The Markham Thunder was a professional women's ice hockey team in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). From 1998 through 2017, the franchise was known as the Brampton Thunder and Brampton Canadettes-Thunder before relocating from Brampton, Ontario, to Markham, Ontario, for the 2017–18 season. The CWHL ceased operations in 2019 and no further statements or actions were taken with the franchise. Team history The city of Brampton had a long history of women's ice hockey, starting with the creation of the Brampton Canadettes in 1963, whose management created the Dominion Ladies Hockey Tournament in 1967 (operating today as the Canadettes Easter Tournament). Vicky Sunohara
Vicky Sunohara (born May 18, 1970) is a Canadian ice hockey coach, former ice hockey player, and three-time Olympic medallist. She has been described as "the Wayne Gretzky of women's hockey" and is recognized as a trailblazer and pioneer for the sport. In 2020, Sunohara was named to "TSN Hockey’s All-Time Women’s Team Canada," in recognition of her status as one of Canada’s best female hockey players of all time. She was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2025. Sunohara is currently the head coach of the Varsity Blues women's ice hockey team of the University of Toronto.
