Lady Catharine Long (''née'' Walpole; 1797 – 30 August 1867) was an English novelist and religious writer of the 19th century. Biography Catherine Long was the youngest daughter of Horatio Walpole, 2nd Earl of Orford, and his wife Sophia Churchill. She married Henry-Lawes Long of Hampton Lodge, Surrey, 22 July 1822. She died suddenly - according to the Dictionary of National Biography - "from alarm in a thunderstorm" on 30 August 1867, leaving seven daughters (one of whom, Charlotte Caroline Georgina Long, married Henry Howard) and a son. She engaged in much literary work, chiefly in the way of religious fiction, and published some pieces of sacred music. Mary Catherine Small Long (born Mary Catherine Small; February 7, 1924 – November 23, 2019) was an American politician who served as the U.S. representative for Louisiana's 8th congressional district, which she filled from 1985 to 1987, the remainder of the term left by the death of her husband, Gillis William Long. Until it was disbanded in 1993, the 8th district was based in Central Louisiana about Alexandria. She was the first female military veteran elected to Congress, having served as a WAVE in the United States Navy. Kate Long (born 1964) is an English author. She is perhaps best known for the number one bestselling novel '' The Bad Mother's Handbook.'' She lives in Whitchurch in Shropshire.. Biography Kate Long was born in 1964 and raised in Blackrod, a village between Wigan and Bolton, and was educated at Bolton School. At 18 she left home to study English at Bristol University, where she graduated with a First Class Honours degree, then trained as a teacher in Exmouth for a year. The Miss Alabama competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Alabama in the annual Miss America Competition. Alabama has won three Miss America titles: Deidre Downs in 2005, Heather Whitestone (the first deaf woman to win the Miss America crown) in 1995, and Yolande Betbeze in 1951.
