Kateřina Šafránková (; born 8 June 1989 in Kolín) is a Czech hammer thrower. She competed in the hammer throw event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. On May 20, 2016, she broke the national record in Ostrava Ostrava (; ; ) is a city in the north-east of the Czech Republic and the capital of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It has about 283,000 inhabitants. It lies from the border with Poland, at the confluences of four rivers: Oder, Opava (river), Opa ... with 72,34 m. She later beat that record with a mark of 72.47 in Kolin. The 8th European Athletics U23 Championships were held on 14–17 July 2011 in the Městský stadion (Ostrava), Městský stadion in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Russia topped the medal table with 20 medals in total, including 9 golds (after revision), before Great Britain, also with 20 medals, and Germany.
