Kate Allen (Amnesty International)
Katherine Allen (born 25 January 1955) was the Director of Amnesty International UK (AIUK) from 2000 to 2021. Early life and education Katherine Allen was the daughter of William Allen and Patricia Allen (née Middleton). She gained a BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. Allen was made an Honorary Fellow by the university in 2006. Career Allen was a policy officer at the Greater London Council from 1977 to 1979. She then became a scientific officer at the Social Science Research Council (1979–80) and a policy officer at Haringey London Borough Council (1980–81). From 1981 to 1987, Allen was senior policy officer in Social Services for the Association of County Councils. Kate Allen (triathlete)
Katherine Jessie Jean "Kate" Allen (born 25 April 1970, in Geelong, Australia) is an Australian-Austrian triathlete. She won the gold medal in the women's triathlon at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Early life Kate Allen grew up on a sheep-farming property with her three brothers at Teesdale, Victoria in southeastern Australia. From an early age her parents encouraged her to run, and she used to frequently jog to primary school some 3 kilometres from home. At the age of four Allen began participating in Little Athletics at Landy Field in Geelong. She competed in junior athletics until the age of 14, winning a number of championships over 1500 m and 'cross-country' distance. Allen also enjoyed gymnastics in her early years, a sport that would prove important to her coordination skills during her triathlon career. Kate Elizabeth Slatter OAM (born 10 November 1971; married name Kate Allen) is an Australian former rower, a sixteen time national champion, world champion and Olympic champion from Adelaide, South Australia. She is a three-time Olympian who in 1996 won Australia's first Olympic gold in women's rowing. Club and state rowing Slatter began rowing at the Adelaide University Boat Club in 1989, and rowed in their victorious women's eight at the 1996 Australian University Games, two weeks after winning gold in Atlanta. Slatter made her selection debut for South Australia in 1992 in the state women's coxless four to contest the ULVA Trophy at the Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships. She raced in further South Australian women's coxless fours in 1993, 1996 and 1998 seeing a victory in 1996. Kate Ruth "Katie" Allen (born 28 February 1974) is an Australian field hockey player. She was a member of the Australia women's national field hockey team that won gold medals at Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games and World Cup in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Katrina Jane Allen (born 24 February 1966) is an Australian politician and former medical researcher who was a member of the Australian House of Representatives, House of Representatives from 2019 Australian federal election, 2019 until 2022 Australian federal election, 2022. She is a member of the Liberal Party of Australia, Liberal Party and represented the Division of Higgins in Victoria (Australia), Victoria. Early life Allen grew up in country New South Wales and went to boarding school at Melbourne Girls Grammar. Her father was born on Banaba Island, Ocean Island in the British colony of Gilbert and Ellice Islands (present-day Kiribati). She held British citizenship by descent until March 2019 when she renounced it to run for parliament. Her mother was secretary of the Albury branch of the Liberal party.
