Kasta (, Russian for caste) is a Russian rap group from Rostov-on-Don, well-known to Russian-speaking audiences in post-Soviet countries. The group's members are Vlady (MC and producer), Shym, Hamil and Zmey. Kasta has been notably influenced by New York City rap tradition. Kasta publicly condemned the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. In 2024, Kasta participated in the Russian New Year's television show "Mirnye ogon'ki, Mirnye Ogon'ki" (Peaceful Lights), which was created as an alternative to similar shows on state-controlled and militarized Russian television. Mirnye Ogon'ki
Peaceful Lights (Mirnye Ogon'ki) is a New Year's Eve musical project, produced by volunteers and funded through crowdsourced donations, created as an alternative to the New Year's shows on Russian television. It is broadcast on December 31 on various internet platforms. The 2024 concert included Evgeny Khavtan, Maxim Leonidov, Tatyana Lazareva, Teona Dolnikova, and Boris Grebenshchikov. Basta, also known as Noggano, born on April 20, 1980, as Vasiliy Mikhaylovich Vakulenko () is a Russian rapper, singer, producer, and radio host. Biography Basta's father was an army officer who served in the Armed Forces of Belarus (formerly part of Soviet Union) during the 1980s. Basta studied at a local music college but did not graduate.
