The Kashmiri Wikipedia () is the Kashmiri language, Kashmiri language edition of Wikipedia. It was launched in 2004. On 29 November 2021, it crossed the 1,000 articles milestone. As of , it has articles and registered users, making it the List of Wikipedias, largest edition of Wikipedia by article count. History Kashmiri Wikipedia was started in 2004. The first edit was made on 25 March 2004 by an anonymous user who added Kashmir letters to the main page. This date is also celebrated as the Birthday of Kashmiri Wikipedia. Kashmiri ( ) or Koshur (Kashmiri: , , ) is an Indo-Aryan languages, Indo-Aryan language of the Dardic languages, Dardic branch spoken by around 7 million Kashmiris of the Kashmir region, primarily in the Kashmir Valley and surrounding hills of the Indian-administrated union territory of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir, over half the population of that territory. Kashmiri has split ergativity and the unusual V2 word order, verb-second word order. Since 2020, it has been made an official language of Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir along with Dogri language, Dogri, Hindi, Urdu and English. The GNU Free Documentation License (GNU FDL or GFDL) is a copyleft license for free documentation, designed by the Free Software Foundation (FSF) for the GNU Project. There were 6 million page views in January 2024. On 7 January 2024, the Urdu Wikipedia became the first South Asian-language Wikipedia to surpass 200,000 articles. The Hindi Wikipedia () is Modern Standard Hindi edition of Wikipedia. It was launched in July 2003. As of , it has articles, and ranks 10th in terms of depth among Wikipedias. In December 2023, there were 91 million page views. It is the first Wikipedia to be written in a variety of Hindustani, followed by the Urdu Wikipedia, launched in January 2004. On 30 August 2011, the Hindi Wikipedia became the first South Asian-language Wikipedia to surpass 100,000 articles. Hindi, using the Devanagari script, requires complex transliteration aids to be typed on devices. Thus, a Phonetic Roman Alphabet converter is also available on the Hindi Wikipedia, so the Roman keyboard can be used to contribute in Hindi, without having to use any special Hindi-typing software.
