Kasadyahan
The Kasadyahan Festival is a Festival, cultural festival that is part of the larger Dinagyang, Dinagyang Festival held annually on the fourth Saturday of January in Iloilo City, Philippines. It precedes the main highlight of Dinagyang, the Ati Tribes Competition, which takes place the following day on Sunday. It is a competition among cultural festivals from different cities and towns in the Western Visayas region. The festival has also been known and rebranded as Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan since the Iloilo Provincial Capitol, Iloilo provincial government's takeover from the city government as the host in 2024, showcasing different competing festivals from across the province. Etymology The word ''Kasadyahan'' is derived from the Hiligaynon language, Hiligaynon word ''sadya'', which means joy, merriment, or happiness. Dinagyang
The Dinagyang Festival is a religious and cultural festival held annually on the fourth Sunday of January in Iloilo City, Philippines, in honor of Santo Niño, the Holy Child, and to commemorate the historic pact between the Malay settlers and the indigenous Ati people of Panay. It is considered one of the largest festivals in the Philippines, attracting 1 to 2 million people during the weekend celebration. The festival is renowned for its Ati Tribes Competition, where ''tribu'' or tribal performers in "Ati warrior" costumes with large feathered headdresses present choreographed formations, rhythmic chanting, and drum performances depicting the history of Panay.
