Kartushyne
Kartushyne () or Proletarskyi (; ) is a rural settlement in Rovenky urban hromada, Rovenky Raion of Luhansk Oblast (region), Ukraine. Population: Geography Proletarskyi is located in the southern part of Luhansk Oblast, in the historical and economic Donbas region of Eastern Ukraine. It is located west-northwest of Rovenky. History Proletarskyi was founded in 1922 near the "Kartushyne" railway station. It received urban-type settlement status in 1938. It was traditionally a coal mining location, but by 2008, Saul B. Cohen wrote that the coal mines had been exhausted, and that now the workers worked in other nearby mines. Proletarskyi was taken over by Russian proxy forces during the war in Donbas that began in 2014. Rovenky urban hromada () is a hromada of Ukraine, located in Rovenky Raion, Luhansk Oblast. Its administrative center is the city Rovenky. Donbas
The Donbas (, ; ) or Donbass ( ) is a historical, cultural, and economic region in eastern Ukraine. The majority of the Donbas is occupied by Russia as a result of the Russo-Ukrainian War. The word ''Donbas'' is a portmanteau formed from "Donets Basin", an abbreviation of "Donets Coal Basin" (; ). The name of the coal basin is a reference to the Donets Ridge; the latter is associated with the Donets river. There are numerous definitions of the region's extent. Saul (; , ; , ; ) was a monarch of ancient Israel and Judah and, according to the Hebrew Bible and Old Testament, the first king of the United Monarchy, a polity of uncertain historicity. His reign, traditionally placed in the late eleventh century BCE, according to the Bible, marked the transition of the Israelites from a scattered tribal society ruled by various judges to organized statehood. Rovenky
Rovenky (; ) is a coal mining city in Rovenky Raion, Luhansk Oblast (region), Ukraine. Residence of Rovenky urban hromada. Prior to 2020, it was incorporated as a city of oblast significance. Population: Including the surrounding villages, the total population is close to 84,000 (as of 2011). Rovenky came under control of pro-Russian separatists in early 2014, and was incorporated into the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR). Since 2022, Russia has claimed the city as part of their LPR territory following its declared annexation of the region.
