Norway Women's National Handball Team
The Norway women's national handball team represents Norway at international handball competitions, and is governed by the Norges Håndballforbund (NHF). As of December 2024, Norway has been in 27 finals and is regarded as one of the finest women's national handball teams ever, with 34 medals. Norway women's national handball team holds the distinction in the sport for being the only handball team, on the women's side, and men's side, to have won the European Championship four consecutive times. 2012 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2012 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Serbia from 4 to 16 December. Originally the tournament was scheduled to be held in the Netherlands but on 4 June 2012 the Dutch Handball Federation withdrew from the organization. Subsequently, the European Handball Federation (EHF) launched a new bidding process and eventually selected Serbia as the new host on 18 June 2012. Montenegro captured their first title by defeating defending champion Norway 34–31 in the final. Host selection Initially on its meeting on 27 September 2008 the EHF awarded the championship to the Netherlands, defeating Ukraine in the second round of voting while Germany and Serbia withdrew their candidacy during the congress. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a Handball goalkeeper, goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. Erlend Mamelund
Erlend Mamelund (born 1 May 1984) is a retired Norwegian handball player who played for Haslum HK and for the Norwegian national team. Club career Mamelund played professionally in the German Bundesliga. He won the EHF Cup with HSG Nordhorn in 2007-08. Former clubs are Helset IF and Haslum HK. Mamelund has signed a transfer to the Danish Handball League side FCK Håndbold, which will be his club from July 2009. In his first season, he won the Danish Men's Handball Cup and was named MVP for the tournament. On 19 August 2015 it was announced that Erlend Mamelund would join German side THW Kiel immediately on a one-year deal. He then finished his career at Haslum HK in 2017. He wore the Haslum jersey 311 times and scored 1811 goals in 13 seasons. He then signed a three-year deal as the assistant coach of Haslum from 2017 to 2020.
