Karnataka State Film Awards
Karnataka State Film Awards are the most notable and prestigious film awards given for Kannada film industry in Karnataka, India. These are considered the highest awards for Kannada language films. They are given annually by the Government of Karnataka to honor the best talent and to provide encouragement and incentive to the Kannada film industry. The awards are decided by a committee, headed by a panel of judges. The jury usually consists of eminent personalities from the film field. The awards intend to promote films with artistic values and to encourage artists, technicians and producers. The awards are declared by the Minister for Cultural Affairs and are presented by the Chief Minister of Karnataka. On 14 November 2016,Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah declared that the State Government will present the Karnataka State Film Awards on 24 April, the birthday of thespian Dr. Rajkumar, every year henceforth. Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor is a state film award of the Indian state of Karnataka given during the annual Karnataka State Film Awards. The award honours Kannada Language films. Superlatives Recipients The first recipient was Rajkumar who was honored in 1967 for his performance in ''Bangaarada Hoovu''. As of 2019 he was the most honored actor with nine awards. Vishnuvardhan was honored in seven occasions. Two actors Anant Nag, Shiva Rajkumar have been honored four times, while Lokesh honored three times and two actors Ramesh Aravind, Puneeth Rajkumar have won the award two times. ''Kaddipudi'' is a 2013 Indian Kannada language crime drama film directed by Duniya Soori and produced by M. Chandru. The screenplay was written by Soori and Rajesh Nataranga and the film stars Shiva Rajkumar as Anand alias Kaddipudi, a ''rowdy'' in Bangalore who vows to relinquish his life of crime and lead a normal life. The film also features Radhika Pandit, Rangayana Raghu, Anant Nag, Rajesh Nataranga, Balu Nagendra, Sharath Lohitashwa, Renuka Prasad and Avinash in pivotal roles. The music of the film was composed by V. Harikrishna with lyrics for the soundtracks written by Yogaraj Bhat and Jayant Kaikini. ''Lucia'' is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language psychological thriller drama film written, co-edited and directed by Pawan Kumar. It stars Sathish Ninasam and Sruthi Hariharan in lead roles.' The film's plot is about Nikki, an usher in theatre who has insomnia. After consuming a special pill, he gets entangled in a different kind of dream. ''Lucia'' was the first Kannada film to be crowdfunded by the people. The film's soundtrack was composed by Poornachandra Tejaswi and cinematography was handled by Siddhartha Nuni. ''Lucia'' premiered at the London Indian Film Festival on 20 July 2013. It won the Best Film Audience Choice award at the festival. Sharatchandra Lohithaswa (born 5 May 1972), known popularly as Sharath Lohithaswa, is an Indian actor mostly known for his work in Kannada and Tamil films. He has had a successful career in theatre, where he continues to work, and television. After working as a lecturer for a brief period, Sharath took to acting as a full-time profession and worked on stage following the footsteps of his father Lohithaswa. He began working in films in 1995 and has today established himself as a character actor.
