Karl Spain
Karl Spain (born 20 October 1971) is an Irish people, Irish comedian from Limerick. He is from the Corbally area of the city and was educated at CBS Sexton Street. In 2000, Spain won the RTÉ award for Best New Act. Spain appeared at the Montreal ''Just for Laughs'' comedy festival in 2003, which was later repeated on RTÉ Television. He is a regular at the Cat Laughs, Kilkenny Cat Laughs comedy festival. Spain later ran a series on RTÉ entitled ''Karl Spain Wants a Woman''.http://www.rte.ie/tv/karlspain/ He appeared as master of kung-fu on the fifth series of ''Killinaskully'' in October 2008. In 2009 he had yet another TV show on RTÉ Two, ''Karl Spain wants to Rock''. In March 2010 Karl began a tour as supporting act to fellow Irish comedian, Ed Byrne (comedian), Ed Byrne. Tubridy Tonight
''Tubridy Tonight'' is a talk show hosted by Ryan Tubridy that aired on RTÉ One for five seasons between 2004 and 2009. The programme featured guest interviews (usually three per show), audience participation and live music from both a guest music group and the house band. ''Tubridy Tonight'' aired every Saturday night, except during the summer months, directly after the main evening news. The show's house musical act was Clint Velour and the Camembert Quartet. ''Tubridy Tonight'' was the first successful Saturday night chat show to be broadcast by RTÉ since the ending of ''Kenny Live'' in 1999. The programme had regular viewing figures of 450,000, however, the show also regularly fell victim to so-called "Saturday Night Syndrome", with '' The Late Late Show'', broadcast on Friday nights, frequently featuring supposedly better guests. Edward Cathal Byrne (born 16 April 1972) is an Irish actor and comedian. He has presented the British television shows ''Just for Laughs (British TV series), Just for Laughs'' and ''Uncut! Best Unseen Ads'', has been a guest on numerous television panel games and has appeared on a number of television cooking shows. Early life Byrne was born on 16 April 1972 in Dublin, Ireland, and grew up in nearby Swords, County Dublin, Swords. His father was a sheet metal worker who became a supervisor, and his mother was a radiographer and lectured in radiography. Cat Laughs
The Cat Laughs Comedy Festival is a comedy festival held over the first weekend in June each year in Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It was founded in 1994. It has been referred to as the "Best Little Comedy Festival in the world" by The Guardian and RTÉ_News, RTE. History Cat Laughs was envisioned in 1994 by Lynn Cahill, who ran Bickerstaffe Theatre Company in Kilkenny. As a means to expand the company's programme, she considered with her business partner that Kilkenny was great for a festival. After originally planning a choral festival called "Cat Sings", her business partner Richard Cook suggested a comedy festival instead. For the first two editions, no Irish comedian closed the festival due to the audience preferring British comics.
