Karl Scharnweber
Karl Scharnweber (born 1950) in Rostock is a German church musician, Jazz musician and composer. Life After his school years in Rostock, Scharnweber began studying church music at the Evangelische Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Halle in 1969. From 1973, he worked as a church musician in various churches in Mecklenburg. In addition to this task, which he held part-time at the inner city parish of Rostock from 1997 to 2016, he devotes himself to composing and performing new arrangements on various theological texts. As early as the 1970s, Scharnweber worked with the Weber Trio to perform his own jazz compositions. In 1987, he founded the trio ''ChoralConcert'' with (tenor saxophone, flute) and (guitars), in order to be able to realise his musical ideas. The Evangelische Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Halle (Saale) is a university, specialised in music, in Halle an der Saale. It was established as the Evangelischen Kirchenmusikschule on 18 April 1926 by the consistory of the Evangelical Church of the Church Province of Saxony in Aschersleben. On 29 January 1939, it moved from Aschersleben to Halle, into the building of the on Wilhelmstraße, today Emil Abderhalden-Straße. Mecklenburg
Mecklenburg (; nds, label=Low German, Mękel(n)borg ) is a historical region in northern Germany comprising the western and larger part of the federal-state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The largest cities of the region are Rostock, Schwerin, Neubrandenburg, Wismar and Güstrow. Tenor Saxophone
The tenor saxophone is a medium-sized member of the saxophone family, a group of instruments invented by Adolphe Sax in the 1840s. The tenor and the alto are the two most commonly used saxophones. The tenor is pitched in the key of B (while the alto is pitched in the key of E), and written as a transposing instrument in the treble clef, sounding an octave and a major second lower than the written pitch. Modern tenor saxophones which have a high F key have a range from A2 to E5 (concert) and are therefore pitched one octave below the soprano saxophone. People who play the tenor saxophone are known as "tenor saxophonists", "tenor sax players", or "saxophonists". The Kulturpreis der Hansestadt Rostock is a German cultural award endowed with 3,500 euros. From 1958 to 1995, up to five persons and associations were honoured annually, since 1996 it has been limited to one personality or association. Lauren Newton
Lauren Amber Newton (born 16 November 1952) is an avant-garde jazz and contemporary classical singer and founding member of the Vienna Art Orchestra. Biography Newton earned a degree in music at the University of Oregon. In 1974 she moved to Europe and continued her music studies with Sylvia Geszty at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. In 1977 she joined the Vienna Art Orchestra, touring widely with the group until 1989. With Bobby McFerrin, Jeanne Lee, Urszula Dudziak and Jay Clayton she formed the Vocal Summit in 1982. Newton combines conventional techniques with unconventional vocal sounds.
