Karl Orviku
Karl Orviku (17 August 1903, Kohtla – 7 March 1981, Tallinn) was an Estonian geologist. He specialized in quaternary geology. In 1930 he graduated from University of Tartu with a master's degree in geology. Since 1926 he worked as the chair of geology at Tartu University. And From 1954 to 1968 he was the director. Since 1954 he was a member of the ESSR Academy of Sciences. From 1961 to 1965 he was a member of the executive committee of the International Union for Quaternary Research The International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA) was founded in 1928. Kohtla
Kohtla () is a village in Toila Parish, Ida-Viru County in northeastern Estonia, located just south of the city of Kohtla-Järve and east of Kohtla-Nõmme borough. (retrieved 28 July 2021) It has a population of 78 (as of 1 January 2010). Before the 2017 Administrative Reform, the village belonged to Kohtla Parish. Kaarel Orviku
Kaarel Orviku (15 July 1935 in Tartu – 24 July 2021) was an Estonian geologist (marine geologist) and nature photographer. His scientific activity is mainly related to the coasts of Estonia. His father was geologist Karl Orviku. In 1959 he graduated from Tartu State University. And Since 1959 he was teaching at Tallinn University, but prior he taught at Tallinn University of Technology. From 1993–2009 he worked at AS Merin which dealt with questions with coastal areas and environmental assessment.
