Helene Engelmann
Helene Engelmann (later Jaroschka, 9 February 1898 – 1 August 1985) was an Austrian pair skater. With Alfred Berger, she became the 1924 Olympic champion and a two-time world champion. She also won a world title with Karl Mejstrik. Life and career Engelmann was the daughter of Eduard Engelmann Jr., a three-time champion at the European Figure Skating Championships. She began skating as a small child, having been introduced to the sport at an early age. Aged 15, she won the pair skating title at the 1913 World Championships with her skating partner Karl Mejstrik. She remains the youngest-ever world champion in the pair category. Engelmann also won World titles in 1922 and 1924 with partner Alfred Berger. World Figure Skating Championships
The World Figure Skating Championships are an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU). The first World Championships were held in 1896 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and they have been held ever since with only four interruptions. A separate competition for women was established in 1905, with the men's and women's events held as separate competitions for several years. Pair skating was added in 1908 and ice dance in 1952. Skaters are eligible to compete at the World Championships, provided they represent a member nation of the International Skating Union and are selected by their respective federation. 1914 World Figure Skating Championships
The World Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters compete for the title of World Champion. Men's competitions took place from February 21 to 22 in Helsingfors (Helsinki), Finland. This was the first time that more than ten men participated in the competition. Ladies' competitions took place from January 24 to 25 in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Pairs' competition took place on January 25 also in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
