Karl M. Baer
Karl M. Baer (; 20 May 1885 – 26 June 1956) was a German-Israeli author, social worker, reformer, and suffrage, suffragist. Born intersex and assigned female at birth, he came out as intersex in 1904 at the age of 19. In December 1906, he became the first transgender person to undergo Sex reassignment surgery (female-to-male), sex reassignment surgery, and he became one of the first transgender people to gain full legal recognition of his gender identity by having a male birth certificate issued in January 1907. However, some researchers have disputed his label as a trans man, theorizing that he was intersex, and not transgender. Baer wrote notes for sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld on his experiences growing up female while feeling inside that he was male. Suffrage, political franchise, or simply franchise is the right to vote in public, political elections and referendums (although the term is sometimes used for any right to vote). Hermann Simon (historian)
Hermann Simon (born 1949) is a German historian who was for 27 years director of the Foundation " New Synagogue Berlin - Centrum Judaicum". Early life Hermann Simon was born in Berlin in 1949, the son of classical philologist and philosophy historian Marie Jalowicz-Simon and the judaist Heinrich Simon. Hermann Simon grew up in East Berlin. His family was a member of the Jewish Community East Berlin, which was very small because of the Holocaust and emigration in the postwar years. He studied History and Oriental Studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin, followed by graduate studies in Prague. Career From 1975 to 1988 he worked at the Numismatic Collection of the National Museums in Berlin. Karl Grune
Karl Grune (22 January 1890 – 2 October 1962) was an Austrian film director and writer who made many silent films in the 1920s. Grune was born into a Jewish family Siegbert Salomon Prawer, ''Between Two Worlds: The Jewish Presence in German and Austrian Film, 1910-1933'', Berghahn Books (2007), p. 211 in Vienna, where he later attended drama school. He volunteered in the First World War, where an injury temporarily deprived him of the ability to speak in 1918. After the war he made his directing debut in 1919 with ''Menschen in Ketten'' ("People in Chains"). In 1923 he made ''Schlagende Wetter'' with Liane Haid and Eugen Klöpfer in the leading roles.
