Karim Bey Mehmandarov
Abdul Karim bey Mirza Mustafa bey oghlu Mehmandarov ( az, Əbdül Kərim bəy Mirzə Mustafa bəy oğlu Mehmandarov, 2 December 1854, Shusha–20 December 1929, Shusha) was a Russian Empire and Soviet medical doctor of Azerbaijanis, Azerbaijani ethnicity. He was one of the first ethnic Azerbaijanis to graduate from the Medico-Surgical Academy in St. Petersburg, one of the leaders of the Shusha educational society "Neshr Maarif", founder of the first Russian-Azerbaijani Shusha school for girls. Early life He was born in 1854 in Shusha, as a member of the Azerbaijani noble family Mehmandarov, Mehmandarovs. His father Mirza Mustafa was an Imperial Russian officer, while his grandfather Mirza Ali was a ''mehmandar'' (an official courier appointed to escort an important traveller) of Ibrahim Khalil Khan, the origin of the surname. Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan Republic, which was also the capital of Shirvan (during the reigns of Akhsitan I and Khalilullah I), Baku Khanate, Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Azerbaijan SSR and the administrative center of Russian Baku governorate. Baku is derived from the old Persian ''Bagavan'', which translates to "City of God". Eldar Aziz oghlu Azizov () is the head of the Baku City Executive Power since November 15, 2018. Biography He was born on 28 June 1957 in Baku to Aziz Azizov and Elmira Azizova. Maternally he is the great-grandson of Karim bey Mehmandarov and great-great-grandson of Bahman Mirza. He graduated with honors from the History Department of Azerbaijan State University named after Kirov in 1979. Bahman Mirza Qajar
Bahman Mirza ( fa, بهمن میرزا; 11 October 1810 – 11 February 1884) was an Iranian prince from the Qajar dynasty. The son of Abbas Mirza and grandson of Fath Ali Shah, he was Vicergerent ( ''vali'') of Azerbaijan and Governor-General of Tabriz. He later migrated to neighboring Imperial Russia, where he was received with great honour and lived a prestigious life in Shusha. Many of his offspring either returned to Iran where they pursued political or military careers, or served in the Russian military, and later played an important role in the military of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
