Eldar Aziz oghlu Azizov () is the head of the Baku City Executive Power since November 15, 2018. Biography He was born on 28 June 1957 in Baku to Aziz Azizov and Elmira Azizova. Maternally he is the great-grandson of Karim bey Mehmandarov and great-great-grandson of Bahman Mirza. He graduated with honors from the History Department of Azerbaijan State University named after Kirov in 1979. Starting from the same year, he held various responsible positions in the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Azerbaijan. Since 1984, he worked as the first secretary of the Komsomol committee of 26 Baku Commissars district (now Sabail Raion, Baku), after 1987 - the first secretary of the Baku city committee. History Of Baku
Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan Republic, which was also the capital of Shirvan (during the reigns of Akhsitan I and Khalilullah I), Baku Khanate, Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and Azerbaijan SSR and the administrative center of Russian Baku governorate. Baku is derived from the old Persian ''Bagavan'', which translates to "City of God". A folk etymology explains the name ''Baku'' as derived from the Persian ''Bādkube'' (بادکوبه ), meaning "city where the wind blows", due to frequent winds blowing in Baku. Baku State University
Baku State University (BSU) ( az, Bakı Dövlət Universiteti (BDU)) is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Established in 1919 by the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the university started with faculties of history and philology, physics and mathematics, and law and medicine, with an initial enrollment of 1094. The first rector of BSU was V.I.Razumovsky, a former professor of surgery at Kazan University. In 1930, the government ordered the university shut down in accordance with a reorganization of higher education, and the university was replaced with the Supreme Pedagogical Institute. However, in 1934 the university was reestablished again and continued to work through the difficult years of World War II experiencing a shortage of faculty members.
