Kari Peters
Kari Peters (born 17 November 1985 in Dudelange, Luxembourg) is a Luxembourger cross-country skier. He competed for Luxembourg at the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Sprint event. He was also scheduled to compete in the 15 kilometre classical event, but withdrew due to suffering from a severe cold. Kari Peters was named as the athlete to represent the country after he met the standard of less than 100 FIS Points set by the Luxembourgian Olympic and Sporting Committee. Peters is also the first ever athlete to qualify in cross-country skiing for the country. He will be the first cross-country skier to represent his country. Peters was also selected to carry the Luxembourg flag during the opening ceremony. Dudelange
Dudelange (; lb, Diddeleng , german: Düdelingen) is a commune with town status in southern Luxembourg. It is the fourth-most populous commune, with 19,734 inhabitants. Dudelange is situated close to the border with France. , the town of Dudelange, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 19,734, making it Luxembourg's third-most populous town. 2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics took place at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia, on 7 February 2014. It began at 20:14 MSK (UTC+4) and finished at 23:02 MSK (UTC+4). It was filmed and produced by OBS and Russian host broadcaster VGTRK. This was the first Winter Olympics and first Olympic Games opening ceremony under the IOC presidency of Thomas Bach. This was also the second consecutive Winter Olympic opening ceremony to be held in an indoor stadium. The Games were officially opened by President Vladimir Putin. The 2014 Winter Olympics, officially called the XXII Olympic Winter Games (russian: XXII Олимпийские зимние игры, XXII Olimpiyskiye zimniye igry) and commonly known as Sochi 2014 (russian: Сочи 2014), was an international winter multi-sport event that was held from 7 to 23 February 2014 in Sochi, Russia. Fleur Maxwell (born 5 August 1988) is a Luxembourgian former figure skater. She has won nine senior international medals. She reached the free skate at the 2006 Winter Olympics and at six ISU Championships, achieving her highest result, 14th, at the 2005 European Championships. Career Maxwell started skating at the age of nine. She debuted on the junior international level in the 2002–03 season. Ranked 32nd at the 2003 World Junior Championships, she placed 18th the following year in The Hague, Netherlands. Maxwell won the silver medal at the 2004 International Challenge Cup, her senior international debut. Her first senior ISU Championship was the 2005 European Championships in Turin, Italy.
