Karel Willemen
Karel Angèle Antonius Willemen (born May 15, 1967 in Dongen) is a Dutch people, Dutch designer. He is mainly recognized for his contributions to the fantasy-themed amusement park Efteling, located in Kaatsheuvel in the Netherlands. Willemen started at Efteling in 1988, after completing the Royal Academy for Arts and Design in Den Bosch, as a Senior Modeler, Sculptor and Decorator. In 2001 he moved completely to themes & design, and since 2005 he has been working as a Senior Designer for conceptual experience and theming. Dongen
Dongen () is a Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality and village in North Brabant, in the southern Netherlands. In the past it had a profitable leather industry, and a few old shoe factories in the town's older sections remain. ''PandaVision'' ''(Dutch: PandaDroom, translation: PandaDream)'' was a 4-D film shown in the Dutch theme park Efteling, sponsored by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Bird Rok
Vogel Rok (" Bird Roc" in English) is an enclosed roller coaster in the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. History and details The name of the ride, Vogel Rok, refers to the adventure of Sinbad and the Bird Roc from the 1001 Arabian Nights; the extensive theming covers, beside the ride, the building and the queue line. The building has as a frontage a giant colorful Roc, the largest bird in Europe, according to the Guinness Book of Records. In the opening year there weren’t many effects in the ride, and the link between the story and the ride wasn’t clear. Bob Track
Swiss Bob (or "Bobbaan" in Dutch) was a Bobsled roller coaster in the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. History Construction and opening Construction of the Bob began in 1984. The track consisted of green gutters with a snow-colored interior and was built between the trees. A soft opening was held on 27 March 1985, during a press conference with a team of European bobsleigh riders. On 4 April 1985 the Bob opened to the general public. Python (Efteling)
Python is a double- loop corkscrew roller coaster in the Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. It opened as the largest steel roller coaster on the European mainland. History With Python, Efteling started the implementation of a new strategy: development from a fairy-tale forest into an all-round amusement park. This change led to many problems with the local community. Environmentalists tried to get the building permit withdrawn, and the park's neighbors feared problems arising from growing visitor numbers. Because of the likely noise pollution, the highest court of public justice ordered the construction to be stopped. The People Of Laaf
The People of Laaf is an attraction in the amusement park Efteling in the Netherlands. It was designed by Ton van de Ven and opened its doors in 1990. It is a small village, called “Lavelaer”, inhabited by the so-called “Laafs” ("Laven" in Dutch). The visitors can walk through the village and enter the houses, among which a bakery, a brewery, a windmill and a nursery and watch the Laafs do their normal daily activities. A monorail of 450 meters in length runs through the village at an altitude of about 3 meters. In the early years, riders had to pedal the monorail. This was discontinued because of the possibility of "crashing" into each other. Furthermore, if a rider stopped pedaling, the ride could be blocked for other visitors. Dreamflight
Droomvlucht ("Dreamflight" in English) is a dark ride in Efteling amusement park in the Netherlands. It was designed by Ton van de Ven, built by Translift and opened in 1993. History In Droomvlucht, the visitors fly through a dream world of forests, castles, fairies, trolls and other fairy-tale-like creatures and scenes. The visitors are seated in small open cabins hanging from the ceiling. The ride takes them past five different scenes in about six minutes: the Castle Realm, the Wondrous Forest, the Fairy Garden, Heavenly Strongholds and the Squelch Forest.
