Karamandere (river)
The Karamandere () is a river in northeastern Bulgaria, a left tributary of the Suha reka (river), Suha reka, itself a right tributary of the Danube. Its length is 66 km. Course The Karamandere takes its source under the name Dumandere at an altitude of 409 m in the northwestern part of the Stana Plateau, some 2.5 km northwest of the village of Mirovtsi in eastern part of the Danubian Plain (Bulgaria), Danubian Plain. It flows east until the village of Strahil (village), Strahil, where it turns north. Downstream of the crossing with the second class II-27 road (Bulgaria), II-27 road Novi Pazar, Shumen Province, Novi Pazar–Dobrich the river dries up in summer. The Karamandere flows in a wide valley throughout the whole course. It flows into the Suha reka at an altitude of 144 m some 3.8 km southeast of the village of Karapelit. Shumen Province
Shumen Province (, transliterated ''Oblast Shumen'', former name Shumen okrug) is a province in northeastern Bulgaria named after its main city Shumen. It is divided into ten municipalities with a total population, as of December 2009, of 194,090 inhabitants. The Main City The city of Shumen is famous in the region for the Monument to 1300 Years of Bulgaria. The monument is in the cubist style and is 1300 steps (each step representing a year) above the center of the town. Suha Reka (river)
The Suha reka (, meaning “Dry River”) is a river in northeastern Bulgaria and southeastern Romania, a right tributary of the Danube. The river flows in the region of Dobruja. Its length is 126 km, of which over 100 km are in Bulgaria. In Romania, where it is called Canaraua Fetei, it flows through the lakes Iortmac and Oltina. Geography The Suha reka takes its source under the name Izvorsko dere from a spring at an altitude of 333 m in the western part of the Frangen Plateau, about a kilometer south of the village of Izgrev in eastern part of the Danubian Plain. It flows north in a wide valley of developed in Barremian, Aptian and Serravallian calcareous limestones. After taking its tributary the Karamandere, its valley becomes canyon-like with steep slopes, at places over 100 m high.
