Kapıkule
Kapıkule is the name of the Turkish border crossing point in Edirne Province on the border of Turkey and Bulgaria. Its counterpart on the Bulgarian side is Kapitan Andreevo. Together, they form the busiest land border crossing point in Europe. Kapıkule, situated on the State road D100 (D.100) and European route E80, is also an important gateway for cargo transport to the countries east of Turkey. The Asian Highway Network route AH1 terminates at the border. Other land border checkpoints in western Turkey are the neighboring Hamzabeyli (on the D.535) and Dereköy (on the D.555) to Bulgaria and İpsala (on the D.110, E84) to Greece. The Kapıkule railway station, built in 1971, is located to the north of the town and handles more traffic than any other railway border crossing in Turkey. Kapıkule Railway Station
Kapıkule station ( tr, Kapıkule garı), is the westernmost railway station in Turkey. It is located towards the north of Kapıkule, the frontier town on the Turkey/Bulgaria border. Kapıkule is a border station and the terminus for domestic trains in European Turkey. Only the Bosphorus Express to Bucharest and the Balkan Express to Belgrade continue across the border into Bulgaria. The station is the busier of the 2 operational border stations of the Turkish State Railways in Turkey, the other one being Kapıköy on the border with Iran. Kapıkule station was opened in 1971 as part of the Edirne cut-off to bypass the main line of the former Oriental Railways in the Ottoman Empire. The Asian Highway Network (AH), also known as the Great Asian Highway, is a cooperative project among countries in Asia and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to improve their connectivity via highway systems. It is one of the three pillars of the Asian Land Transport Infrastructure Development (ALTID) project, endorsed by the ESCAP commission at its 48th session in 1992, comprising Asian Highway, Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) and facilitation of land transport projects. Agreements have been signed by 32 countries to allow the highway to cross the continent and also reach to Europe. Kapitan Andreevo
Kapitan Andreevo ( bg, Капитан Андреево ) is a village near the Bulgaria—Turkey—Greece tripoint in Svilengrad municipality, Haskovo Province, southern Bulgaria. As of 2005 it has 948 inhabitants and the mayor is Dimitar Shiderov. Due to the proximity with Turkey, there is a major border checkpoint built there, with the Turkish side of the checkpoint being called Kapıkule. The busy Bulgaria–Turkey border crossing at Kapitan Andreevo is an important point of entrance to the European Union. Kapitan Andreevo is located at , 30 metres above sea level. State Road D110 (Turkey)
D.110 is a long east-west state road running from the border with Greece, near İpsala, to the junction with the D.100 in Kınalı. The road is the main route into Greece and one of only two roads that cross the Greek border from Turkey. The entire route is a four-lane highway, except for the two-lane bridge crossing the Maritsa river. The D.110 is a part of the E84 for its entire length and part of the E90 from the Greek border to Keşan. İpsala (, ) is a town and district of Edirne Province in northwestern Turkey. It is the location of one of the main border checkpoints between Greece and Turkey.
