Kapitein Rob
''Kapitein Rob'' ("Captain Rob") was a Dutch adventure comic strip, created and drawn by Pieter Kuhn and written by journalist Evert Werkman. The series ran from December 11, 1945 until January 21, 1966. Together with Marten Toonder's '' Tom Poes'' and Hans G. Kresse's '' Eric de Noorman'' it is considered to be among the ''Big Three'' in the history of Dutch comics. Concept Kapitein Rob is a sea captain. He owns a sailing ship nicknamed ''De Vrijheid'' (''The Freedom'') and an invention called "Historisch Oog" ("Historical Eye"), which allows him to travel back in time and have adventures in previous centuries involving pirates and explorers. Among the historical characters he encountered are Olivier van Noort and Jan van Riebeeck. Fantasy elements were also prominent in the series. ''Kapitein Rob en het Geheim van Professor Lupardi'' () is a 2007 Dutch adventure film directed by Hans Pos, based on Evert Werkman and Pieter J. Kuhn's eponymous newspaper comic ''Kapitein Rob''. De Waal and Hans Pos wrote the script in collaboration with their production companies Screenpartners B.V. and Shooting Star Filmcompany. The film was released in the Netherlands on November 28. It received a Gouden Film award in 2007 and a MovieSquad Junior Award in 2008, but was otherwise neither a critical nor a commercial success. Critic Jan Pieter Ekker of De Volkskrant felt the story was comparable to "cardboard" and that its low budget showed too much. Simon De Waal
Simon de Waal (born in Amsterdam in 1961) is a Dutch writer. He has specialized in television and film scripts, he won the ''Golden Calf'' in 2000 (grand prize for the Netherlands Film), for best screenplay for the film ''Leak''. ''Leak'' also won best film, best director and best actor, and several international awards, making it one of the most successful Dutch films. Several of the series he wrote, were either nominated or awarded with prizes for best television series in the Netherlands, for instance Unit 13, Bureau Kruislaan and Baantjer. Baantjer won the 'Golden Televizier Ring' for best series, after being nominated for it twice. His book ''Cop vs Killer'' was nominated for best thriller in 2005, in the Netherlands as well as in Belgium. A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when Ischemia, blood flow decreases or stops in one of the coronary arteries of the heart, causing infarction (tissue death) to the heart muscle. Text Comics
Text comics or a text comic is a form of comics where the stories are told in Cartoon caption, captions below the images and without the use of speech balloons. It is the oldest form of comics and was especially dominant in European comics from the 19th century until the 1950s, after which it gradually lost popularity in favor of comics with speech balloons. Definition A text comic is published as a series of illustrations that can be read as a continuous story. However, within the illustrations themselves no text is used: no speech balloons, no onomatopoeias, no written indications to explain where the action takes place or how much time has passed. In order to understand what is happening in the drawings the reader has to read the captions below each image, where the story is written out in the same style as a novel. ''Het Parool'' () is an Amsterdam-based daily newspaper. It was first published on 10 February 1941 as a resistance paper during the German occupation of the Netherlands (1940–1945). In English, its name means ''The Password'' or ''The Motto''. History Second World War The paper was preceded by a stenciled newsletter which was started in May 1940 by Frans Goedhart.
