''Kann Sivanthaal Mann Sivakkum'' () is a 1983 Indian Tamil-language film directed by debutant Sreedhar Rajan. Produced by R. Venkatraman, the film won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director at the 30th National Film Awards in 1983. It is based on Indira Parthasarathy's novel '' Kuruthipunal''. The film stars newcomer Vijaymohan and Poornima Jayaram, with Jaishankar, Rajesh, N. Viswanathan and Raveendran in pivotal roles. The score and soundtrack were composed by Ilaiyaraaja while cinematography was handled by Soumendu Roy. Sreedhar Rajan
Sreedhar Rajan is an Indian journalist and film critic, based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He started his career as an advertising executive and later became a film director and screenwriter. His directorial debut '' Kann Sivanthaal Mann Sivakkum'' (1983) was based on Indira Parthasarathy's novel ''Kuruthipunal'', about the Kilvenmani massacre of 1968. The film won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director in 1983. Following that, he made films such as '' Iravu Pookkal'' (1986) and ''Pookkal Vidum Thudhu'' (1987). He has also served various positions including a member of the advisory panel of the Central Board of Film Certification, and the National Film Development Corporation of India. Nandanar (also spelt as Nantanar), also known as Thirunaallaippovaar () and Tirunallaipovar Nayanar,Other names include: Nandan (Nanda, Nantan), Tirunalaipovanar, Nalaippovar, Nalaippovan was a Nayanar saint, who is venerated in the Hindu sect of Shaivism. Vannadil Pudiyaveettil Dhananjayan (born 30 April 1939) and Shanta Dhananjayan (born 12 August 1943), collectively known as the Dhananjayans, are an Indian dance duo specializing in Bharatanatyam and Kathakali. Personal life V.P Dhananjayan was born into a Malayali family of eight children on 30 April 1939 in Payyanur, Kannur District, Kerala, India. Nayanars
The Nayanars (or Nayanmars; , and later 'teachers of Shiva') were a group of 63 Tamils, Tamil Hindu saints living during the 6th to 8th centuries CE who were devoted to the Hindu god Shiva. Along with the Alvars, their contemporaries who were devoted to Vishnu, they influenced the Bhakti movement in Middle kingdoms of India#The Deccan plateau and South, early medieval South India. The Kilvenmani massacre (or Keezhvenmani massacre) was an incident in Kizhavenmani village, Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu state in India on 25 December 1968 in which a group of around 44 people, the families of striking Dalit village labourers, were murdered by a gang, allegedly led by their landlords.
