Kanglish
Kanglish ( ISO 15919: ''kaṁgliṣ'') is a term used to refer to the macaronic language of Kannada and English. It contains words borrowed from both Kannada and English . Kanglish began to develop in the mid-1990s. Etymology The word "Kanglish" is a portmanteau of the names of the two languages Kannada and English, and was first recorded in 1993. ISO 15919
ISO 15919 is an international standard for the romanization of Indic scripts. Published in 2001, it is part of a series of romanization standards by the International Organization for Standardization. Overview Relation to other systems ISO 15919 is an international standard for the romanization of many Brahmic scripts, which was agreed upon in 2001 by a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries. Macaronic Language
Macaronic language is any expression using a mixture of languages, particularly bilingual puns or situations in which the languages are otherwise used in the same context (rather than simply discrete segments of a text being in different languages). Hybrid words are effectively "internally macaronic". In spoken language, code-switching is using more than one language or dialect within the same conversation. Macaronic Latin in particular is a jumbled jargon made up of vernacular words given Latin endings or of Latin words mixed with the vernacular in a pastiche (compare dog Latin). The word '' macaronic'' comes from the Neo-Latin ''macaronicus'', which is from the Italian ''maccarone'', or "dumpling", regarded as coarse peasant fare. It is generally derogatory and used when the mixing of languages has a humorous or satirical intent or effect but is sometimes applied to more serious mixed-language literature.
