Kangirsuk
Kangirsuk (in Inuktitut: ᑲᖏᕐᓱᖅ/''Kangirsuq'', meaning "the bay") is an Inuit village in northern Nunavik, Quebec, Canada. It is north of Kuujjuaq, between Aupaluk and Quaqtaq. The community is only accessible by air ( Kangirsuk Airport) and, in late summer, by boat. The village used to be known also as ''Payne Bay'' and ''Bellin''. Geography Kangirsuk is located above the tree line near the mouth of the Arnaud River on the north shore of Payne Bay, inland from the western coast of Ungava Bay. A rocky cliff to the north and a large, rocky hill to the west partially surround the village. Arnaud River
The Arnaud River (formerly known as the Payne River) is a river in Nunavik, Quebec, Canada, flowing from the low plateaux of the Ungava Peninsula through a series of glacial lakes to Ungava Bay. Its mean discharge is approximately 15 km³ per year, but the river flows only in the summer as it is frozen to several metres for the rest of the year. The total length of the river is about 377 kilometres, but there are several main channels in the upper reaches of the river, most of them unnamed and hardly sighted even by the native Inuit. The Inuit village of Kangirsuk lies near the mouth of the Arnaud River on the north shore of Payne Bay, inland from the western coast of Ungava Bay. Nord-du-Québec (; en, Northern Quebec) is the largest, but the least populous, of the seventeen administrative regions of Quebec, Canada. Nunavik
Nunavik (; ; iu, ᓄᓇᕕᒃ) comprises the northern third of the province of Quebec, part of the Nord-du-Québec region and nearly coterminous with Kativik. Covering a land area of north of the 55th parallel, it is the homeland of the Inuit of Quebec and part of the wider Inuit Nunangat. Kativik is a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) of Quebec, with geographical code 992. Its land area is 443,372.20 km2 (171,186.96 sq mi), and its population was 12,090 at the 2011 Census of Canada. Aupaluk
Aupaluk ( iu, ᐊᐅᐸᓗᒃ) ( 2021 Population: 233) is a northern village in Nunavik, in the Nord-du-Québec region of Quebec. It is the least-populous Inuit community in Nunavik. The name means "where the earth is red", referring to its iron-bearing (ferruginous) soil. Its population has been increasing: it was 195 in 2011, up from 159 in 2001. Aupaluk is located on the western shore of Ungava Bay, north of Tasiujaq and 80 km south of Kangirsuk. It is about 150 km northwest of Kuujjuaq. It is served by nearby Aupaluk Airport. Ungava Bay (french: baie d'Ungava, ; iu, ᐅᖓᕙ ᑲᖏᖅᓗᒃ/) is a bay in northeastern Canada separating Nunavik (far northern Quebec) from Baffin Island.
