Kanajaru or Kanajar is a small village approximately 78 km north of Mangalore, 18 km west of Karkala and 33 km east of Udupi. Kanajaru is part of Karkala Taluk in Udupi District, Karnataka, India. Our Lady Of Lourdes Church, Kanajar
Our Lady of Lourdes Church is a historic Roman Catholic Church dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes situated at Kanajar near Karkala, India. The church was built in 1938. This church comes under Deanery of Karkala, Roman Catholic Diocese of Udupi. History Before 1930 the faithful residing at Kanajar as well from the surrounding villages Ninjoor, Palli, Kowdoor and Bailoor had to travel to churches in the distant parishes of Attur Church or Moodubelle. Fr. Cashmere Fernandes, the priest at Moodubelle parish, thought of establishing a parish in this area; his assistant vicar Fr. William Antony Lewis took over the responsibility of the project. At the time, the villages of Kowdoor and Bailoor were affiliated to Attur Church, while the villages of Kanajar, Ninjoor and Palli were affiliated to Moodubelle parish. Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi ( ISO: ), also known as Vinayak Chaturthi (), or Ganeshotsav () is a Hindu festival commemorating the birth of the Hindu god Ganesha. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha's clay idols privately in homes and publicly on elaborate pandals (temporary stages). Observances include chanting of Vedic hymns and Hindu texts, such as prayers and '' vrata'' (fasting). Offerings and '' prasada'' from the daily prayers, that are distributed from the pandal to the community, include sweets such as modaka as it is believed to be a favourite of Ganesha. The festival ends on the tenth day after start, when the idol is carried in a public procession with music and group chanting, then immersed in a nearby body of water such as a river or sea, called visarjan on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. Moodubelle
Belle (also known as Bollay) is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India.Village code=01308800 It is located in the Udupi taluk of Udupi district. The village is known for its historic Moodu-Belle Mahalingeshwara Temple dedicated to Shiva. Demographics As of the 2001 India census, Belle had a population of 5324 with 2441 males and 2883 females. Economy The village economy is predominantly based on agriculture, with plenty of rice cultivation. Some modern changes are apparent. Our Lady Of Lourdes
Our Lady of Lourdes (french: Notre-Dame de Lourdes) is a title of the Virgin Mary. She is venerated under this title by the Roman Catholic church due to her apparitions that occurred in Lourdes, France.
