Kamëz
Kamëz ( sq-definite, Kamza) is a municipality in Tirana County, Albania. It was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Kamëz and Paskuqan, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Kamëz. The municipality's population is 96,137 as of the 2023 census, while the municipal unit has a population of 61,739, in a total area of 37.20 km2. Kamëz was one of the applicants for the 2019 European Green Capital Awards, which was won by Oslo. History Kamez is located on the site of an Ancient Illyrian village. The area may have been visited by Emperor Justinian I or Belisarius. Prior to the 1990s, Kamëz was a sparsely populated and predominantly agricultural area. Klubi Sportiv Kastrioti is an Albanian football club based in the city of Krujë. The club's home ground used to be the Kastrioti Stadium, but after the stadium got closed and demolished, Kastrioti decided to move to the Kamëz Stadium in Kamëz, which has a capacity of 5,500 spectators and they currently compete in the Kategoria e Parë. History Early years The club was founded in 1926 as the city of Krujë's main sports club. During a brief spell in 1949, the club was dissolved, but was quickly re-established under the name of the city, Krujë. Two years later in 1951, the club was renamed Puna Krujë before reverting it back to simply Krujë again in 1958, which they later added Kastrioti to, in honour of the noble Kastrioti family of which Albania's national hero Skanderbeg hailed from. Tirana County (), officially the County of Tirana (), is a county in the Central Region of Albania.
