Kamloops—Shuswap—Central Rockies is a federal Electoral district (Canada), electoral district in British Columbia, Canada. It came into effect upon the call of the 2025 Canadian federal election. Kamloops
Kamloops ( ) is a city in south-central British Columbia, Canada, at the confluence of the North Thompson River, North and South Thompson Rivers, which join to become the Thompson River in Kamloops, and east of Kamloops Lake. The city is the administrative centre for, and largest city in, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, a region of the British Columbia Interior. The city was incorporated in 1893 with about 500 residents. The Canadian Pacific Railway was completed through downtown in 1886, and the Canadian National Railway, Canadian National arrived in 1912, making Kamloops an important transportation hub. Kamloops North station is the first stop on VIA Rail's eastbound transcontinental service, ''The Canadian'', while the Rocky Mountaineer and the Kamloops Heritage Railway both use Kamloops station. Kamloops—Thompson—Cariboo
Kamloops—Thompson—Cariboo (formerly known as Kamloops—Thompson) is a former federal electoral district (Canada), electoral district in the Provinces and territories of Canada, province of British Columbia, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 2004 to 2025. While the riding covers a large area, about three quarters of the population in the district live in the city of Kamloops. History This district was created as Kamloops—Thompson in 2003 from Kamloops, Thompson and Highland Valleys riding and small parts of Cariboo—Chilcotin and Prince George—Bulkley Valley ridings. Adams Lake (British Columbia)
Adams Lake is a deep, cold-water lake in south-central British Columbia, which separates the Thompson and Shuswap regions and the Thompson–Nicola and Columbia–Shuswap regional districts. The upper reaches lie in the northern Monashee Mountains, while the lower end penetrates the Shuswap Highland. The southern end is by road about northeast of Kamloops. Name origin On Archibald MacDonald's 1827 map, the river is called "Choo-chooach". On S. Black's 1835 map, the lake is unnamed. First Nations Chief Sel-howt-kin, who lived on the lakeshore, became a Roman Catholic. When Father Nobli baptized him, he received the name Adam. Chief Adam (sometimes spelled Atahm) was a prominent Secwepemc chief in the mid-nineteenth century. By most accounts, the lake is named after him.
