Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt
Kammennoostrovsky Prospekt () is one of the main streets of Petrogradsky District of Saint Petersburg. It runs from Trinity Bridge and Trinity Square across Petrogradsky Island, the Karpovka River, Aptekarsky Island, the Malaya Nevka and Kamenny Island to the Bolshaya Nevka. It is served by two Saint Petersburg Metro stations: Gorkovskaya and Petrogradskaya. At Leo Tolstoy Square, where the Petrogradskaya Metro is located, Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt crosses another large avenue, Bolshoy Prospekt. The section of Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt between Trinity Square and the Malaya Nevka was named Red Dawns Street (улица Красных зорь) from 1918 to 1934 and Kirovsky Prospekt (Кировский проспект) after Sergey Kirov Sergei Mironovich Kirov (born Kostrikov; 27 March 1886 – 1 December 1934) was a Russian and Soviet politician and Bolshevik revolutionary. Kamenny Islands (, ''Kamenny Ostrova'', meaning 'Stony Islands') are a group of three islands in the Neva delta, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Geography The three islands are flat. Sergey Kirov
Sergei Mironovich Kirov (born Kostrikov; 27 March 1886 – 1 December 1934) was a Russian and Soviet politician and Bolshevik revolutionary. Kirov was an early revolutionary in the Russian Empire and a member of the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. Kirov became an Old Bolshevik and personal friend to Joseph Stalin, rising through the Communist Party of the Soviet Union ranks to become head of the party in Leningrad and a member of the Politburo. On 1 December 1934, Kirov was shot and killed by Leonid Nikolaev at his offices in the Smolny Institute. Nikolaev and several alleged accomplices were convicted in a show trial and executed less than 30 days later. Kirov's assassination was used by Stalin as a reason for starting the Moscow trials and the Great Purge. Bolshoy Prospekt (Petrograd Side)
Bolshoy Prospekt of Petrograd Side () is a large avenue in Petrogradsky District of Saint Petersburg, Russia, crossing Petrogradsky Island and spanning from Tuchkov Bridge across the Malaya Neva to Petropavlovsky Bridge across the Karpovka River. In 1918–1944 the avenue was named Karl Liebknecht Prospekt (проспект Карла Либкнехта). The street is served by the stations Sportivnaya and Petrogradskaya of Saint Petersburg Metro. Not far from the Karpovka, at Leo Tolstoy Square, where Petrogradskaya is situated, Bolshoy Prospekt crosses another large avenue, Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt. Petrogradskaya
Petrogradskaya () is a station on the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. The station was opened on July 1, 1963. Its name was derived from its location on Petrogradskaya Storona and within the Petrogradsky district. The ground vestibule was designed by architects Andreev and Moskalenko and is located in the building of "Dom mod" ("House of Fashions"), at the intersection of Kamennoostrovsky Prospect and Bolshoy Prospect of Petrogradskaya Storona, near Leon Tolstoy Square. There is an underground slope leading to a pedestrian subway, which originally had escalators but were later dismantled. Petrogradskaya is a deep-level station with platform screen doors. Gorkovskaya (Saint Petersburg Metro)
Gorkovskaya () is a station on the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. It was designed by A.S. Getskin, V.P. Shuvalova, S.L.Mihaylov, H.I. Bashnin, S.I. Evdokimov, A.P. Izoitko and E.I. Travnikov. It opened on July 1, 1963. The station's name was derived from Maxim Gorky Avenue (later renamed Kronverskiy Avenue). The station was designed as a tribute to the writer. The ground-level vestibule is located at the intersection between Kamennoostrovsky and Kronverksky Prospects. The vestibule is designed to withstand a direct impact during carpet bombing. The station closed in October 2008 for a 14-month reconstruction and reopened in December 2009 as initially planned. Aptekarsky Island (, , "Apothecary Island", , "Deep Forest Island") is a relatively small island situated in the northern part of the Neva delta. It is separated from Petrogradsky Island by the Karpovka River, from Kamenny Island and Krestovsky Island by the Malaya Nevka and from the Vyborgskaya region of St-Petersburg by the Bolshaya Nevka. It has an area of approximately two square kilometres. Karpovka River
The Karpovka () is a small river of the Neva basin in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It separates Aptekarsky Island (right bank) from Petrogradsky Island (left bank). The Karpovka flows from the Bolshaya Nevka to the Malaya Nevka and is long.
