Kalyanji
Kalyanji Virji Shah (30 June 1928 – 24 August 2000) was the ''Kalyanji'' of the Kalyanji-Anandji duo. He and his brother Anandji Virji Shah have been famous Indian film musicians, and won the 1975 Filmfare Award for Best Music Director, for ''Kora Kagaz''. He is a recipient of the civilian honour of Padma Shri (1992), India's fourth-highest civilian honour. Birth and early life Kalyanji was born to Virji Shah, a Kutchi businessman in Kundrodi, Kutch, Gujarat, who migrated from Kutch to Mumbai to start a ''Kirana'' (provision store). Filmfare Award For Best Music Director
The Filmfare Award for Best Music Director is given by the ''Filmfare'' magazine as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Hindi films, to the best composer/arranger of a soundtrack. This category was first presented in 1954. Naushad Ali was the first recipient of this award for his song "Tu Ganga Ki Mauj" from the film ''Baiju Bawra''. For the first two years, it was awarded to the composer for a particular song and not the entire album. From 1956 onwards, awards in this category have been given for the entire soundtrack. Kora Kagaz
''Kora Kagaz'' (translation: Blank Paper) is a 1974 Indian Hindi-language drama film produced by Sanath Kothari and directed by Anil Ganguly. A remake of Bengali film '' Saat Pake Bandha'' (1963) starring Suchitra Sen and Soumitra Chatterjee, which itself was based on a novel by Ashutosh Mukhopadhyay, the film stars Vijay Anand, Jaya Bhaduri, A.K. Hangal, Achala Sachdev and Deven Verma. The film's music is by Kalyanji Anandji. The famous title song "Mera Jeevan Kora Kagaz" (loosely translated as: "My life is a blank paper") was rendered by Kishore Kumar. Babla & Kanchan
Laxmichand "Babla" Virji Shah and Kumari Kanchan Dinkarrao Mali-Shah were an Indian husband-wife musical group best known for work in the chutney music and Desi Folk music genres. They performed together for forty years until Kanchan died in 2004. Babla Shah is the younger brother of famous music director duo Kalyanji Anandji. Viju Shah
Vijay Shah (born 5 June 1959), popularly known as Viju Shah, is an Indian composer in the Hindi film industry. He is the son of Kalyanji Virji Shah, one-half of the composer duo Kalyanji–Anandji. The Kutchi people ( Kutchi and Gujarati: કચ્છી ; ; कच्छी , ) traditionally hail from the Kutch district of the western Indian state of Gujarat and the Sindh region of Pakistan. History The Kutchi Memons are a Kutchi people who converted from Hinduism to Islam in the 15th century A.D., due to the influence of Sunni Pirs, such as Saiyid Abdullah. Kutchis, being a part of the Indian diaspora, have maintained their traditions abroad; in 1928, Kutchi Hindus in Nairobi held a Swaminarayan procession in which 1200 people attended.
