Kalutara Vidyalaya
Kalutara Vidyalaya () is a Buddhist boys' school in Kalutara, Sri Lanka. The college was founded in 1941 by Sir Cyril de Zoysa. It is a national school providing primary and secondary education. History In order to provide education to the Buddhist children of Kalutara district, the Kalutara Buddhist Society, led by Sir Cyril de Zoysa, tried to start a Buddhist school in Kalutara. As a result, Kalutara Vidyalaya was officially established on 13 January 1941, with 56 students and 11 teachers at the Martin Bungalow in Nagoda, Kalutara. In the beginning, the college was led by P. De S. Kularatne (principal of Ananda College), J. N. Jenendradasa (principal of Nalanda College), and E. W. Adikaram (principal of Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte). Later, D. D. P. Samaraweera became the first principal of the college. After only six months, the college became a senior secondary school. Cyril De Zoysa
Sir Cyril de Zoysa () (26 October 1896 – 2 January 1978) was a Sri Lankan industrialist, Senator and a philanthropist. The President of the Senate of Ceylon from 1960 to 1965, he was a leader in the Buddhist revival movement in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in the 20th century. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP; , PLF) is a Marxist–Leninist political party in Sri Lanka. The party was formerly a revolutionary movement and was involved in two armed uprisings against the government of Sri Lanka: once in 1971 JVP insurgency, 1971 (SLFP), and another in 1987–1989 JVP insurrection, 1987–1989 (United National Party, UNP). Herath Mudiyanselage Charitha Malinga Bandara (born 31 December 1979), commonly known as Malinga Bandara, is a former Sri Lankan international cricketer. Lalith Wasantha Silva Kaluperuma (born 25 June 1949) is a former Sri Lankan international cricketer, who played first-class cricket from 1970 to 1983. He played in Sri Lanka's first Test team in 1982. Cricket career Kaluperuma was educated at Kalutara Vidyalaya and Nalanda College, Colombo. He played for Bloomfield in Sri Lankan domestic cricket. Dulip Kapila Liyanage (born 6 June 1972) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He studied at the Kalutara Vidyalaya. Thuiappuarachchi Don Daya de Alwis (born 7 November 1942 – died 27 April 2015 as දයා අල්විස්) inhala, popularly known as Daya Alwis, was an actor in Sri Lankan cinema, stage drama and television. He was also a screenwriter and director. He directed about six teledramas. He was the first person in Sri Lanka to receive an award covering all three areas - Stage Drama, Cinema and Teledrama. Shelley Wickramasinghe (1926–10 August 2011) was a Sri Lankan cricketer. He studied at the Kalutara Vidyalaya. From 1972 to 2000, he represented Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club and served as its president three times.
