Kalter
Alan Robert Kalter (March 21, 1943 – October 4, 2021) was an American television announcer from New York City. He is best known as the announcer for the ''Late Show with David Letterman'', a role he held from September 4, 1995, until Letterman's retirement on May 20, 2015. He also hosted ''Alan Kalter's Celebrity Interview'' that ran concurrently with ''The Late Show''. Career Kalter, nicknamed "Big Red" and "TV's Uncle Jerry" by Letterman, began his stint as the "voice" of the ''Late Show with David Letterman'' on September 4, 1995, replacing the retiring Bill Wendell. He announced the guests at the top of each show and the one-liner during the Worldwide Pants title card after the credits and regularly acted in comedic sketches. The ''Late Show with David Letterman'' is an American late-night talk show hosted by David Letterman on CBS, the first iteration of the ''Late Show'' franchise. William Joseph Wenzel Jr. (March 22, 1924 – April 14, 1999), known as Bill Wendell, was an NBC television staff announcer for almost his entire professional career. Life and career Born in New York City, Wendell served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and graduated from Fordham University with a degree in speech. Cedarhurst is a village in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 6,592 at the 2010 census. ''The Money Maze'' is an American television game show seen on ABC from December 23, 1974, to June 27, 1975. The show was hosted by Nick Clooney and was announced by Alan Kalter. It was produced by Daphne-Don Lipp Productions, of which Dick Cavett was a principal. The object of the game was to negotiate a large maze built on the studio floor that housed several towers. ''The $128,000 Question'' is an American game show which aired from 1976 to 1978 in weekly syndication. This revival of '' The $64,000 Question'' was produced by Cinelar Associates and distributed by Viacom Enterprises. Originally, Viacom had intended to revive the series with the same title (and top payoff), but when it was announced that rival series '' Name That Tune'' would be adding a "$100,000 Mystery Tune" for the 1976–77 season, Viacom did not wish for their series to only have the second-biggest payoff and added an end-of-season $64,000 tournament to the format. Bibendum (), commonly referred to in English as the Michelin Man or Michelin Tyre Man, is the official mascot of the Michelin tyre company.
