Kaliyachan
Kaliyachan (English: The Master of the Play) is a 2015 Malayalam drama film directed by Farook Abdul Rahiman in his directorial debut. It starred Manoj K. Jayan, Tirtha Murbadkar, Vaiga, Kalamandalam Sivan Namboodiri, Babu Namboothiri, Manju Pillai, and Mani Pattambi in lead roles. The story about a Kathakali actor and his guru is based on celebrated 1959 poem ''Kaliyachan'' by P. Kunhiraman Nair. At the 60th National Film Awards, it won the award for Best Music Direction (Background score) for Bijibal. At the 2012 Kerala State Film Awards, ''Kaliyachan'' received three awards — Best Debut Director, Best Background Score and Second Best Actor for Manoj K. Jayan. Plot The film is about the Kathakali actor, Kunhiraman, and his relationship with his guru, Asan. Over the years, as the actor gets popular, he becomes arrogant and takes to confronting his guru. Farook Abdul Rahiman
Farook Abdul Rahiman (born 5 November 1966) is an Indian filmmaker and writer. Farook was born into a Rowther family. Bijibal Maniyil is an Indian music composer and playback singer who works predominantly in Malayalam films, documentaries, short films and television commercials. He has composed for more than 150 feature films, several documentaries and television commercials. National Film Award For Best Music Direction
The National Film Award for Best Music Direction (the Silver Lotus Award) is an honour presented annually at the National Film Awards by the Directorate of Film Festivals to a musician who has composed the best score for films produced within the Indian film industry. The award was first introduced at the 15th National Film Awards in 1967. At the 42nd National Film Awards, an award for "Best Background Score" was instituted. It was however discontinued after that, and it was not until 57th National Film Awards, 2009 that the category was re-introduced. The Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor was an award presented annually from 1969 to 2014 at the Kerala State Film Awards of India. The Kerala State Film Awards is managed by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, an autonomous non-profit institution working under the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala.
