Kalinga Lancers (abbreviated as KAL) is a field hockey team based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha that plays in the Hockey India League. It is jointly owned by Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL). Former Australian field player Mark Hager is the head coach of the team while former Indian captain Dilip Tirkey is the chief mentor and advisor of the team. Ownership Kalinga Lancers is owned by Odisha Sports Development and Promotion Company jointly formed by Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) and Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL). Moritz Fürste
Moritz Fürste (born 28 October 1984) is a German field hockey player. He was a member of the Men's National Team that won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics as well as at the 2006 World Cup. He played at the Uhlenhorster Hockey Club in Hamburg from 1989 till 2012. He was captain of the team. He has guided his team to success in the Euro Hockey League on three occasions, winning the title in 2007–08, 2009–10 and 2011–12. Fürste also helped his team to a second-place finish in the competition in the 2008–09 Season, when they were defeated by HC Bloemendaal of The Netherlands. Since 2012 he is playing at Spanish Club de Campo Villa de Madrid. After retiring after season 2018-2019 he just signed a new deal with Royal Beerschot THC in Belgium for 1 season. Matthew 'Matt' Dawson (born 27 April 1994) is an Australian field hockey player who plays as a defender for the Australian national team. He competed at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and now the National team in the Tokyo 2020 olympic games. Career From Killarney Vale on the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Dawson is the son of former Australian cricketer Trish Dawson. 2016 Hockey India League Season
The 2016 Hockey India League (HIL) (known as Coal India Hockey India League for sponsorship reasons) is the fourth season of the professional field hockey tournament. The Hockey India League began on 18 January and concluded with Punjab Warriors as champion against Kalinga Lancers in the final on 21 February. Teams Players auction There were a total of 271 players available during the auction in Delhi, 135 being Indian players and 136 being foreign. Akashdeep Singh was won by Uttar Pradesh Wizards for $84,000 while Moritz Fürste was won by Kalinga Lancers for $105,000. Rule changes for 2016 The organizers of Hockey India League announced changes in rules for the 2016 edition. The changes put the focus firmly back on the more traditional art of scoring. The 2015 Hockey India League (known as the Hero Hockey India League for sponsorship reasons), abbreviated as HIL 2015, was the third season of the professional field hockey tournament, Hockey India League. The 2014 Hockey India League (known as the Hero Hockey India League for sponsorship reasons), abbreviated as HIL 2014, is the second season of the professional field hockey tournament, Hockey India League. The tournament begun on 25 January 2014 with the final on 23 February 2014. The season will see the addition of one new franchise, Kalinga Lancers, making a total of six franchises in the league. Malak Singh (born 30 December 1992) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a forward. He hails from Sant Nagar in Sirsa district, Haryana, where he plays for the Namdhari XI hockey team. He was part of the Indian team that won the silver medal at the 2013 Men's Hockey Asia Cup in Malaysia. Glenn Turner
Glenn Maitland Turner (born 26 May 1947) played cricket for New Zealand and was one of the country's best and most prolific batsmen. He is the current head of the New Zealand Cricket selection panel. Early life Glenn Turner was born in Dunedin and went to Otago Boys' High School, where he became serious about playing cricket. He played for the school between 1962 and 1964.
