Kalala Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Location The property is situated approximately north west of Daly Waters and north of Elliott and south of Katherine in the Roper Gulf Region of the Northern Territory. Description The property has an area of and has double frontage to the Stuart Highway and is composed of a mix of black soil country with areas of arable red country. In 2019 it was carrying a herd of around 35,000 head of Brahman cattle. History The property was acquired by the Langenhoven family in 2019 for $58 million, the family had also recently acquired McMinn Station and the neighbouring Big River Station. Daly Waters is a town and locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south of the territory capital of Darwin at the intersection of the Carpentaria Highway and the Stuart Highway. The area's traditional owners, the Jingili people, believe the Dreaming tracks of the Emu and the Sun travelled through here on their way to the southern parts of the Northern Territory. Elliott is a town in Northern Territory of Australia. It is almost halfway between Darwin and Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway. The town is in the Yapurkulangu ward of the Barkly Region. Katherine is a town in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is situated on the Katherine River, after which it is named, southeast of Darwin. Roper Gulf Regional Council is a local government area of the Northern Territory, Australia. The region covers an area of and had a population of 7,397 in June 2018. Brahman (cattle)
The Brahman is an American breed of zebuine- taurine hybrid beef cattle. It was bred in the United States from 1885 from cattle originating in India, imported at various times from the United Kingdom, from India and from Brazil. These were mainly Gir, Guzerá and Nelore stock, with some Indu-Brasil, Krishna Valley and Ongole. The Brahman has a high tolerance of heat, sunlight and humidity, and good resistance to parasites.
