Kakani
Kakani is a Gaunpalika and former Village development committee (Nepal), village development committee in Nuwakot District in Bagmati Province of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census, the Kakani Village development committee (Nepal), village development committee administered a population of 7816 living in 1343 individual households. As one of the most accessible settlements from Kathmandu over 2000 meters, this hill station hosts a British Gurkhas welfare bungalow and a number of hotels. The village is also home to a memorial park to the victims of Thai Airways International Flight 311. A notable local industry is strawberry farming. Kakani is the best nearest destination for tourism from kathmandu. With the assistance of a United Nations Development Programme project, a local Agricultural cooperative, farmers' cooperative now produces close to 250 000 kg of the fruit per year. Gaupalika
A gaunpalika ( ) is an administrative division in Nepal. The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development dissolved the existing village development committees and announced the establishment of this new local body. It is a sub-unit of a district. There are currently 481 rural municipalities. History The village development committee was the previous governing body of villages in Nepal. They were replaced on 10 May 2017 by the rural municipalities which were formed by combining different VDCs. The decision was taken by the cabinet of Nepal after modifications in the report proposed by the Local Level Restructuring Commission. Initially 481 rural municipalities were formed but it was later changed to 481 municipalities. Thai Airways International Flight 311 (TG311/THA311) was a flight from Bangkok, Thailand's Don Mueang International Airport to Kathmandu, Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport. On July 31, 1992, at 07:00:26 UTC (12:45:26 NST; 14:00:26 ICT), the Airbus A310-304 operating the route crashed into the side of a mountain north of Kathmandu, killing all 113 passengers and crew members on board. Sisdol Landfill
Sisdol landfill is a location to dump solid waste from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kakani, and Banepa. It is the biggest dumping site of Nepal. 100 tons of solid waste is dumped at the site daily.
