Kajang Prison ( ms, Penjara Kajang; formerly known as Selangor Central Prison) is a prison located in Sungai Jelok, Selangor, Malaysia. During the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia in early 2022, 18 inmates were suspected of having adverse effects after taking the COVID-19 vaccine, two of whom died as a result. Kajang
Kajang is a town in Hulu Langat District, Selangor, Malaysia. Kajang, along with much of Hulu Langat District, is governed by the Kajang Municipal Council. Kajang town is located on the eastern banks of the Langat River. It is surrounded by Cheras, Semenyih, Bangi, Putrajaya and Serdang. According to the 2020 census, the local authority area (which includes Kajang) has a population of 1.05 million people. Etymology The name ''Kajang'' is believed to have originated from the language of Temuan tribes ( Orang Asli) who populated the Langat valley in the 17th-18th centuries. In their language ''kajang'' referred to their art of weaving screwpine or pandanus leaves, which were prevalent in much of the country. The Malaysian Prison Department ( ms, Jabatan Penjara Malaysia), is a department controlled by the Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs responsible for prisons where offenders sentenced by the courts are held. These jails also act as detention and recovery institutions. The department is headquartered in the Malaysia Prison Complex (''Kompleks Penjara Kajang'') in Kajang, Selangor in the Klang Valley. Mona Fandey
Nur Maznah binti Ismail (1 January 1956 – 2 November 2001), better known as Mona Fandey, was a Malaysian pop singer and murderer. She was executed on 2 November 2001 at the age of 45, after being convicted of the murder of Batu Talam state assemblyman, Mazlan Idris in 1993. After she killed Mazlan Idris, she reportedly went on a shopping spree in Pahang right after withdrawing RM 300,000 (US$116,000 at the time) from a local bank. Ahmad Najib bin Aris (1976 – 23 September 2016) was a Malaysian convicted murderer who in 2003 raped and killed Canny Ong, a US-based Malaysian information technology (IT) analyst. The crime made headlines across Malaysia.
