Kae Kurd
Kae Kurd (born Korang Abdulla) is a British- Kurdish stand-up comedian and writer. He performed his show ''Kurd Your Enthusiasm'' at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017. He has featured as a guest on the BBC Asian Network and has written for ''the i'' and ''Total Politics''. , he is the UK's only professional standup comedian from a Kurdish background. Early life Kurd came to Britain at 6 months old as a refugee. His parents had been part of the Kurdish resistance movement against Saddam Hussein's Iraqi government and were forced to flee as refugees. "At my age, my father was running at tanks", he told one interviewer. Due to the Anfal campaign against Kurds in Iraq, Kurd's parents fled to Iran, where Kurd was born in 1990. Partly as a result of his father being injured in a poison gas attack in Iraq, his family were accepted as refugees and settled in Brixton, South London, where he still lives. Saqqez
Saqqez ( ; fa, سقز ; ), also known as Saghez, Saqez, Saqqiz, Saqiz, and Sakīz, is the capital city of Saqqez County in Kurdistan Province, in northwestern Iran. According to the 2016 census, its population was 165,258. Etymology The name Saqqez derives from the Scythian word "''Eskit''" and then "''Sakez''". Before that it was Izirtu, the capital of Mannaeans. In some historical sources it has been mentioned that the name of the city is derived from the name of powerful Median ruler Cyaxares (reigned 625 – 585 BC), who turned the empire into a regional power, but other historians believe that the name of the city is derived from ''Sakez'' and is attributed to the Scythians who settled in the city during the reign of Cyaxares. Tehzeeb "Tez" Ilyas ( ur, تہزیب الیاس; born 8 April 1983) is a British Pakistani stand-up comedian. He currently presents a satirical comedy show that mixes sketches and current affairs, called '' The Tez O'Clock Show'' on Channel 4. Early life Ilyas was born and brought up in Blackburn, Lancashire, England and is a British Pakistani.
