Kaduwela Bridge
The Kaduwela Bridge is a beam bridge crossing the Kelani River between Kaduwela in the Colombo District, and Bandarawatta in the Gampaha District, of Sri Lanka. The bridge was constructed in 1982. Kelani River
The Kelani River () is a river in Sri Lanka. The fourth-longest river in the country, it stretches from the Sri Pada Mountain Range to Colombo. It flows through or borders the Sri Lankan districts of Nuwara Eliya, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Gampaha and Colombo. The Kelani River also flows through the capital of Sri Lanka, Colombo, and provides 80% of its drinking water. Hydrology The Kelani River has two main tributaries in its upper reaches: the Kehelgamu Oya and the Maskeli Oya. Kaduwela, Western Province
Kaduwela (, ) is the largest city in Sri Lanka by land area, covering . The city is composed of three divisions called Kaduwela, Battaramulla and Athurugiriya and is located in the Colombo District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. Kaduwela Town (located in Kaduwela Division) is located about from the Colombo city centre on the Colombo - Avissawella Old Road (Low Level Road) and about from Kollupitiya on the New Kandy Road from Ethulkotte to Kandy. Etymology Kaduwela was originally ''Kadudevola'', a compound of ''Kadu'' (sword) and ''Devola'' (shrine). It was the location of a shrine of the goddess Pattini, linked to a golden sword used in the 'water cutting' ritual. Soil erosion is the denudation or wearing away of the Topsoil, upper layer of soil. It is a form of soil degradation. This natural process is caused by the dynamic activity of erosive agents, that is, water, ice (glaciers), snow, Atmosphere of Earth, air (wind), plants, and animals (including humans). In accordance with these agents, erosion is sometimes divided into water erosion, glacial erosion, snow erosion, Aeolian erosion, wind (aeolian) erosion, Zoogenic erosion, zoogenic erosion and anthropogenic erosion such as tillage erosion. Soil erosion may be a slow process that continues relatively unnoticed, or it may occur at an alarming rate causing a serious loss of topsoil.
